MC20 – Radiator pipe coolant leakage

DATE: JUNE 21 2022
Certain Maserati MC20 (M240) vehicles listed in ModisCS+ are involved in a Service Campaign to inspect a
possible engine coolant leakage under the vehicle body.
This action is needed to prevent a potential leakage that in rare/worst cases could lead to an engine
overheating warning message on the IPC cluster.
A new certified pipe fitting procedure has been introduced in the Maserati plant to eliminate any risk of
damaging the pipe.
Please read and review this bulletin first before starting the procedure.

General Precautions:
Before performing this operation, please follow the indicated procedure for interior protection:

00.AA.005 - INTERIOR VEHICLE PROTECTION

1.

Always check in ModisCS+ to see if the vehicle is involved in this campaign and if the campaign has not been
previously performed.

2.

Drive the vehicle on the lift and raise it in the air.

3.

Remove the body’s aerodynamic cover.
09.14.89 - BODY AERODYNAMIC COVER - Removal/refitting or replacement
Remove the rear aerodynamic central cover.
09.14.090 - REAR AERODYNAMIC CENTRAL COVER - Removal/refitting or replacement

Visually inspect for possible coolant leaks. (See example pic. 1)

If coolant leaks are not present (No evidence of pink coolant residue, underbody is clean and dry). The vehicle
can be considered OK. The operation is completed. No Further Action Required.

7.

If coolant leaks are present (pink coolant residue on the pipe and the underbody e.g. example pic. 1), the
vehicle must be considered NOT OK. In this case, continue with Step 8

Operational Procedure

8.

Only in case of “NOT OK”, perform the replacement of the pipes:
01.71.231 - REAR WATER PIPES - Removal/refitting or replacement

9.

IMPORTANT: During the pipe’s replacement, it is necessary to use a soap and water solution to install them.

10. Refit all the parts removed following the removal procedure in reverse order.
11. The operation is completed.

NOTE: The ”NOT OK” pipes could have a strong deviation between the bracket and the hose injection. The distance
between the two sections shown in the picture must be approximately the same (around 11mm).

The use of this tool is not strictly necessary for the execution of this action. The piping can be easily replaced with
the procedure currently published, following the recommendations contained in this technical information.
We ask you to run this campaign as soon as possible, with the utmost urgency using the current procedures.
01.71.231 - REAR WATER PIPES - Removal/refitting or replacement
You will be informed by our Service engineering, with specific communication, as soon as the tool is available,
so you can proceed with the order, not connected to this campaign, so the tool is not strictly necessary to
perform the operation.

NOTE: To make the installation of the PN670182029 easiest, a new special tool is being developed which should be
available starting next July. The new tool will only speed up the assembly of this pipe.
