Service Campaign 475
R1 Software Update to 17.101

DATE: JUNE 6 2022

Certain Maserati Levante (M161), Quattroporte (M156), and Ghibli (M157) vehicles listed in ModisCS+
are involved in a Service Campaign for the software update of the Entertainment Module (ETM) R1.
The incredible features of this new module will give to a customer a new and wider perception
of his Maserati MY21 and MY22.
To ensure the best customer satisfaction all the vehicles in stock must be updated before the
delivery to the final customer.
Meanwhile, all the vehicles already delivered to the final Customer and the DEMO cars will be
launched in parallel with a FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) campaign. The customer could update
the vehicle in full autonomy and no Warranty claim must be managed.

Please read and review this bulletin first before starting the procedure.

This Procedure applies to In-stock vehicles Only. Customer vehicles that
apply to this service campaign will receive the update over FOTA.
See Bug Fix List pages 8 and 9.
1.

Check if the vehicle is involved in the action and if the campaign has not been previously
performed.

2.

Before starting with the installation of the New Software 17.101 (aka 17J), check the actual Sw
Level in the (ETM) R1 on the vehicle. (ref. Software Version Check procedure).

3.

If the Software Level is lower than 17.73, a Factory Reset MUST be performed at the end of the
Update.

USB Stick Preparation
In MODISCS+, click on AFTERSALES ► TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE ►SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD then
click on “Search” on the main screen.

Click on the download icon to download
the Sw update.

Download the correct 17.101 Software version based on your market area.

NOTE: Sw update file size is over 18GB. Recommend using High-Speed Internet (25 Mbps or above) hardwired
to download the Sw Update to avoid download interruptions.

NOTE: Only VINs that apply to this Service Campaign must be updated via USB procedure.
Other vehicles will be updated over FOTA (Firmware Over The Air, Ref MAS002429).
7.

Copy the Zip file on an empty USB Flash Drive formatted to NTFS only.
•

Use only SanDisk, Verbatim, Kingston, or Transcend “3.0 Certified” branded USB Flash
Drives with a 64 GB capacity formatted to NTFS.

•

DO NOT unzip or modify the Sw Update File. The file MUST be copied into an empty Flash
Drive as downloaded from the MODIS platform.

NOTE: During the update, the ETM could show a black screen. In this case, wait for the system to
restart without removing the Flash Drive from the USB socket.
8.

Remove Logistic Mode and Turn ON the engine or connect a power supplier to the battery and
insert the USB Flash Drive into the USB socket.

9.

The following picture will appear and press “Update Now”.

10. The following picture will appear, then press “Continue” and wait for the software to download.

11. This step will take approx. 45 minutes (without any action to be done from operator).

12. Wait for the system to Reboot, then press “Accept”.

13.

Turn Off the engine and remove the USB Flash Drive.

14. Turn on the engine.
15. The following picture will appear and press “OK”.

16. The next step will show the new software version updated and then press “OK” (the software
version indicated are just an example)

Factory Reset & Radio Sleep
Only perform the “Factory reset”. If the Sw Version is lower than 17.73.
17. Select “Setting” menu.

Select “Reset” menu.

19. Select “Factory reset”.

20. Press “Yes” and wait for the reboot of the system.

Perform Radio Sleep: shut the vehicle OFF (Key-Off Engine-Off), wait 5min to go in sleep and then
switch Key-On Engine-Off. NOTE: Make sure All doors are closed.

22. Perform Radio Restart: execute radio restart through the radio menu: Settings ►Reset ► Then
select “Restart radio”.

23. Check configuration and ensure that all widget and Screens have the right theme according to
the following slides (No Blue theming should be visible).

Note for the FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) Operation: All Vehicles already delivered to the final customer will
be managed with a FOTA action. All the Cars updated over FOTA by the customer must not be claimed
under warranty. All the claims for those vehicles will be rejected.
If the FOTA will not work and the Software version is lower than 17.101 and no pop-up appears to update
at Key-Off, please open a BOL to receive support.
