Some customers may comment that transmission uid is leaking under the vehicle.
The uid leak may be visible from two locations.
The transmission case plugs at the rear of the transmission oil pan rail or between
the transmission and transfer case mating surfaces (4WD) or between the
transmission case and extension housing (2WD) as the transmission rear case plugs
are covered by the transfer case front case half or extension housing and may leak
through weep holes.

Correction:
Case plug leak at transmission oil pan rail 2WD and 4WD.

Rear of transmission case plug leak 4WD.

Rear of transmission case plug leak 2WD.

Correction at the Oil Pan Rail:
Note: Only replace plugs that are leaking.
The case plugs can be accessed using a 5mm ball allen socket.

Apply a small bead of AC Delco Thread Sealant 19333512 (CAN 10953480) to the new plug.

Remove the suspect plug, discard and clean the threaded hole with a clean lint free shop towel to remove
residual oil.
Note: Do Not reuse the removed plug.
Note: Not all of the residual oil will be removed in the cleaning process.
Note: Do NOT use Brake Clean type solvents to clean the female threaded plug area.
Install the new plug torquing to 11 lb ft (15 Nm).
Check the transmission uid level following SI and correct as needed.
Transmission Fluid ULV 19352619 (Can 19352620).
Correction at the leak from the transmission rear case plugs 4wd).
Transmission uid should be visible at one or both weep holes.
The transmission case plugs are directly above the weep holes.
The use of a bore scope can be useful to con rm that the case plug is the source of the leak.

Remove the transfer case following published SI.
Discard the transmission to transfer case square cut rubber seal.
Note: Use care when removing the transfer case from the vehicle. Avoid contact with the transmission output
shaft to the mating surface of the transfer case.

Apply a small bead of AC Delco Thread Sealant 19333512 (CAN 10953480) to the new plug.

Remove the suspect plug, discard and clean the threaded hole with a clean lint free shop towel to remove
residual oil.
Note: Do Not reuse the removed plug.
Note: Not all of the residual oil will be removed in the cleaning process.
Note: Do NOT use Brake Clean type solvents to clean the female threaded plug area.
Install the new plug torquing to 11 lb ft (15 Nm).
Reinstall the transfer case following SI procedures.
Note: Proper Transfer Case installation is critical for proper vehicle operation.
Note: Follow SI document 5155327 for the transfer case bolt torque sequence.
Check the transmission uid level following SI and correct as needed.
Transmission Fluid ULV 19352619 (Can 19352620).
Correction at the leak from the transmission rear case plugs 2WD.
Transmission uid should be visible at one or both weep holes.
The transmission case plugs are directly above the weep holes.
The use of a bore scope can be useful to con rm that the case plug is the source of the leak.

Discard the transmission to extension housing seal square cut rubber seal.

Apply a small bead of AC Delco Thread Sealant 19333512 (CAN 10953480) to the new plug.

Remove the suspect plug, discard and clean the threaded hole with a clean lint free shop towel to remove
residual oil.
Note: Do Not reuse the removed plug.
Note: Not all of the residual oil will be removed in the cleaning process.
Note: Do NOT use Brake Clean type solvents to clean the female threaded plug area.
Install the new plug torquing to 11 lb ft (15 Nm).
Reinstall the transfer case following SI procedures.
Check the transmission uid level following SI and correct as needed.
Transmission Fluid ULV 19352619 (Can 19352620).
