**asterisks** and include correcting nomenclature.
This Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) has also been released as a Rapid Response
Transmittal (RRT) 21-003, date of issue January 09, 2021. All applicable Sold and Un-Sold
RRT VINs have been loaded. To verify this RRT service action is applicable to the
vehicle, use VIP or perform a VIN search in DealerCONNECT/Service Library. All repairs are
reimbursable within the provisions of warranty. This RRT will expire 18 months after the date
of issue.
SUBJECT:
Incorrect or Missing Hood Decal
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves inspecting and if necessary replacing the hood decal.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries: EMEA.
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or after May 27, 2020 (MDH 0527XX) and on
or before October 07, 2020 (MDH 1007XX) equipped with 1.3L I4 Turbo PHEV Engine
(Sales Code EYG).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some of the PHEV vehicle hood decals may be missing or has the incorrect decal been installed.
DIAGNOSIS:
If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. This RRT only applies
to vehicles on the RRT VIN list.
Verify the vehicle has a hood decal and it is the correct decal per the picture (Fig. 1) .
Is the hood decal missing or is incorrect?
• YES>>> Proceed to Step 1 of the Repair Procedure.
• NO>>> This bulletin has been completed, use inspect LOP (23-01-18-98) to close the active
RRT.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
NOTE: Decals must be removed and applied at a temperature around 21°C (70°F).
1. If temperature is below 21°C (70°F), warm hood with a heat lamp or gun.
CAUTION! Do not exceed 52° C (120° F) when heating decals or body panels. Failure to
follow this caution may result in damage to the decals and/or the vehicle paint
finish.
2. Carefully remove the decal from the hood panel, as necessary.
NOTE: The removal of the windshield washer jets is to be performed only for Compass
PHEV.
3. Open the hood.
4. Remove the hood insulator pad.
• Release the tabs and remove the Insulator.
5. Disconnect the windshield washer hose from the connectors (Fig. 2) .
6. Unclip the windshield washer hose from the hood and position it aside (Fig. 2) .
7. Remove the washer spray nozzles from the hood (Fig. 2) .

8. Thoroughly clean all residue from the decal attachment areas of the hood.
9. Wipe the attachment areas with a clean, lint-free cloth, moistened with a 50% solution of water
and alcohol, Wipe dry the areas immediately with a dry, lint-free cloth.
NOTE: If ambient temperatures are below 21° C (70° F), warm the decal and hood panel with
a heat lamp or gun to assure proper adhesion.
NOTE: Do not touch the adhesive surface with your fingers or hand when positioning the
decal on the body.
10. Partially remove the protective covering from the back of the decal and position onto the hood
(Fig. 3) .
NOTE: Proceeding gently from the center of the decal towards the bumper and from the
center of the vehicle toward the sides, without creating air bubbles.
11. Press decal firmly to hood and wet out with body squeegee (Fig. 3) .
12. Carefully remove the remaining decal protective covering as you install the decal to the hood
(Fig. 3) .

NOTE: If there are bubbles in the decal after it is applied, pierce them using a needle and
stretch it again over the surrounding area using the body squeegee.
13. Cutout the locations for the washer spray nozzles.
14. Install the washer spray nozzles to the hood (Fig. 4) .

15. Clip the windshield washer hose to the hood (Fig. 4) .
16. Reconnect the windshield washer hose to the connectors (Fig. 4) .
17. Install the hood insulator pad.
NOTE: After the decal is applied, keep the vehicle in a warm place for at least 5 hours.
NOTE: Notify the customer to avoid any vehicle washing operation for 5 days after applying
the sticker.
