SUBJECT: Advance™ Software U05.10.00 & V05.10.00
U05.10.00 and V05.10.00 versions of microprocessor software are now available for all
Advance Microprocessor Trailer & Rail units. With the release of this bulletin, U05.10.00 and
V05.10.00 will also be available on TransCentral.
There are two versions available. The versions are divided into the “U” version specifically for
Ultra / Ultima / NDL models, and the “V” version specifically for the Vector models.
The U05.10.00 version is approved for use in all Ultra (NDA), Ultima (NDX), and X-Series
(NDL) models including models with the Intelligent Damper System.
The V05.10.00 version is approved for use in all Vector™ 1800MT, 5100, 6500, and 6600MT
models.

IMPORTANT SOFTWARE INSTALLATION INFORMATION:
ONCE ANY 05.xx.xx VERSION IS INSTALLED INTO AN ADVANCE CONTROLLER, IT
WILL NO LONGER BE POSSIBLE TO LOAD ANY VERSIONS OF 04.xx.xx or earlier
versions of SOFTWARE INTO THAT MICROPROCESSOR. Future version releases may
be loaded as they are released.
U05.10.00.bex or V05.10.00.bex software can be installed using a Program PC card.
U05.10.00.bex and V05.10.00.bex are both available at no cost by visiting the Carrier
Transicold TransCentral website. Existing Program PC cards may be upgraded to
U05.10.00.bex or V05.10.00.bex using the TRU-Tech program.
NOTICE: The display and MessageCenter may behave differently during the software
loading process, depending on the version of software currently in the controller. DO
NOT INTERRUPT THE SOFTWARE INSTALLATION PROCESS ONCE IT HAS STARTED.
When upgrading from 03.02.00 or higher to U05.10.00 or V05.10.00, all information for
installing, and an update of the install process, will be displayed in the MessageCenter.

When upgrading from a version prior to 03.02.00 to U05.10.00 or V05.10.00, once the Program PC Card is
inserted, and the “=” key pressed, the display will turn off, and the engine will stop (if it was running). NOW,
after the software installation process has been underway for just a few seconds, the display will power up,
and the MessageCenter will show INSTALLING PROGRAM SOFTWARE during the software install process.
The Card Status LED adjacent to the PC Card slot will blink together with the Micro Status LED during the
software installation process. Once the entire program has been loaded, the MessageCenter will show
INSTALL COMPLETE – REMOVE CARD. At the same time, the Card Status LED will stop blinking and be on
solid, indicating that the software install is complete.
NOTE FOR NDL, NDP and NEP MODELS: Once the unit shuts down to begin the software
install process, the Suction Modulation Valve closing process begins. The software
installation processes will not begin until the SMV is completely closed, which will
delay the actual software install process (the Microprocessor Status and Card Status
LEDs blink together every 0.5 seconds) for about 45 seconds.
Additional information regarding changes featured in this new software release is detailed below.
NOTICE: Whenever loading software into an Advance controller, it is always wise to verify that the new
version is actually installed by going to the Data List, and reading the installed software version at the
MessageCenter.
NOTICE: Carrier Transicold transport refrigeration units (TRUs) are designed to maintain the temperature of
the product at the temperature at which it was loaded; Carrier Transicold TRUs are not designed to cool warm
product.

05.10.00 Technical Information
New information for all Advance controlled units


In pretrip the unloaders will be test up to a maximum of 3 times before an alarm in generated.



Component test mode has been increased from a maximum time of 5 minutes to 10 minutes

New information for X-Series units only


Automatic termination of a defrost cycle, if the SAT reaches 120°F for 1 minute. When this condition
occurs, alarm 54 “Defrost Not Complete“ will be displayed. When this trigger activates alarm 54, the
unit will not be allowed to restart a defrost cycle.



IDS Only New alarm “Check Damper System” and new configuration “Damper Alarm Shutdown”. This
new configuration will allow for unit shut down when alarm 25 is active. The new alarm will detect a
damper stuck open or stuck closed. If the unit times out in defrost (45 minutes) instead of alarm 54
“Defrost Not Complete”, “alarm 25 “Check Damper System” will be generated, this will indicate the
damper is stuck open. If the delta T (RAT–SAT) is > 40°F for 60 consecutive seconds in the cool
mode, then alarm 25 “Check Damper System” will be generated, signaling the damper is stuck closed.
The unit will also check the damper relay coils prior to the engine starting, if a failed relay is detected,
alarm 25 will be generated and an event “current checked failed” will be entered in the Data Recorder.



The battery charger configuration selection has been modified to “No Temp Sensor”, “1ph/20amp” or
“3ph/40amp”. To ensure proper operation and prevent faults A51 alarms, be sure to set to proper
setting for your unit.

New model numbers have been added to the Vector family. These new model numbers are for Vector
1800MT units that have been retrofitted with a Tier4i engine. New model numbers are:

The ability to control using the remote evaporator supply air probe. With the SAT2 configuration set to
“Installed”, and the function “Temp Control” will now be “C1 Temp Control” and “C2 Temp Control”. In
these functions the choice will be “Return Air” or “Supply Air”.



Operation of a MT as a ST. A new configuration was added to allow a Vector 6600 to operate as a
single temp unit. When the configuration is set to “Normal” the unit will control as a Vector 6600, when
set to “Single Compartment Control” the unit will control to the front compartment set point, the remote
evaporator will operate the same as the host,( i.e., host in cool, remote in cool or host in heat, remote
in heat). The remote compartment set point will be locked when running in “Single Compartment
Control”.
