INSPECTION PROCEDURE
Check if you hear the front brakes squealing under the following conditions:
•
You hear a high-pitched squeal with light brake application at 15 mph or less.
•
The squeal is most frequently heard after the vehicle has been sitting for an extended amount of time.
•
The squeal is most frequent when the ambient temperature is below 50◦F.
•
The squeal goes away when the brakes are warmed up or after several stops.
NOTE: If the high-pitched squeal does not meet the described symptoms, this bulletin does not apply. Continue with normal
troubleshooting.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
Front Brake Pad Replacement
1. Before applying the brake pads, completely degrease and clean the highlighted areas shown below.
2. The brake pads now come with the shim glued to the back of the pad.

3. Remove old retainers and clean where the retainers seat on the bracket.
4. Apply grease to the brackets and pads. Install the new retainers.
5. Install the pads to the bracket, remove the sticker fixed to the back of the shim and install the caliper body.
NOTE: Before installing the brake pads, make sure there is no grease on the outer support area of the caliper body.
•
Do not touch the adhesive when installing the brake pads.
•
Keep dirt or other contaminants off the adhesive.
•
The new pads do not come with V-Springs. V-Springs are not required, and you will need to discard the previous
set.

Brake Pad Bond Procedure
1. Connect the i-HDS and proceed to Electric Servo Brake System.
2. Go to the data list and locate the Brake Fluid Pressure Sensor PL.
3. Press on the brake pedal until you achieve 3.0 MPa or higher and hold it for 10 seconds.
4. Test drive the vehicle multiple times to make sure the squeal is gone. Make sure that the brakes cool down in between
test drives. If the brakes still squeal, this bulletin does not apply. Continue with normal troubleshooting.
NOTE: After installing these brake pads, if you remove brake pads, you must replace them with new ones; you cannot
reapply the used brake pads.
