Technical Background
Engine control module (ECM) adaptation is required before vehicle delivery.

Production Solution
Not applicable.

Service
Perform ECM adaption during pre-delivery inspection by completing the following steps.
Tip: This process works best with VAS PC and VSD on the scan tool.
1. Check and clear the DTCs in the ECM master, J623 (address word 01), three times within
20 seconds. Go to On Board Diagnostics (OBD) >> (01) Engine electronics >> 004 DTC
memory content >>004.01 - Check DTC memory >> 004.10 – Erase DTC memory.
2. Check and clear the DTCs in the ECM slave, J624 (address word 11), three times within 20
seconds. Go to On Board Diagnostics (OBD) >> (11) Engine electronics 2 >> 004 DTC
memory content >>004.01 - Check DTC memory >> 004.10 – Erase DTC memory.
3. After checking and clearing both the ECM master (01) and the ECM slave (11) three times,
hit the on-screen refresh button. The button will turn green after refresh.
4. Cold start the vehicle with the coolant temperature between 20˚C and 25˚C.
5. Let the vehicle high idle in “P” gear without touching the accelerator pedal until the car
heating/secondary air phase is over (idle returns to normal speed below 1,000 RPM).
