MC20 - Concentration of Engine coolant to 50%

Certain Maserati MC20 (M240) vehicles listed in ModisCS+ are involved in a Service Campaign to restore
the correct concentration of Engine coolant to 50% that was wrongly set to 30% in some Markets.
To reach the correct coolant concentration of 50% it is necessary to remove 5 Liters (1.33 gallons) from the
circuit and replace them with 5 Liters (1.33 gallons) of pure PETRONAS Paraflu UP (1681) Coolant
(100% concentration).
Please read and review this Bulletin first before starting the Operational Procedure.

Operational Procedure
Preparations:


Use a graduated meaurement container to measure 5 Liters (1.33 gallons) of pure
coolant (100% concentration) For this Campaign use PETRONAS Paraflu UP (1681)
Only (As recommended in TechDOC workshop manual section 00.AB.060).



Spare hose (6mm in size) and container for collection of the drained coolant.

Caution: Perform this procedure with the engine COLD
DO NOT perform while the engine is HOT.
1.

Allow the engine to cool down completely.

2.

Open the Engine Hood Lid.

3.

Undo the engine coolant Expansion Reservoir/(Nourice) cap slowly to vent any residual pressure.

4.

Disconnect the indicated clamp and the indicated hose (1) from its seat

5.

Use a spare hose 6mm in size and connect one end to the pipe and the other end into a collection
container.

Start the engine and wait for the coolant to come out of the spare hose into the collection
container.

At the same time, top off 5 Liters (1.33 gallons) of pure coolant (100% concentration) into the
Expansion Reservoir/(Nourice) to avoid air injection into the cooling system.
NOTE: During the topping off phase, never wait for the Expansion Reservoir/(Nourice) to empty
completely. Be prepared to shut the engine OFF once all 5 Liters (1.33 gallons) have been poured
into the Expansion Reservoir/(Nourice).

8.

Shut the Engine OFF, remove the spare hose and reinstall original coolant hose to the tube with new
hose clamp. Make sure the level in the reservoir is at the MAX notch. Procedure is complete.
NOTE: During the emptying / filling phases, a small quantity of liquid could be dispersed in the engine
compartment, therefore it is necessary to clean the area after reassembly. Make sure there are no
leaks.
