Do not replace the complete rear window assembly. Follow the SERVICE PROCEDURE in
this bulletin to replace any loose or detached rear sliding center glass seals.

contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.

REQUIRED MATERIALS

Back Window Glass Sealant Kit 79718-9BV0A includes the following:





2 horizontal seals (300 mm)
2 vertical seals (280 mm)
3M® adhesion promoter (2262AT)
Adhesion promoter applicator

SERVICE PROCEDURE
HINT: The procedure in this bulletin will be
performed from inside the vehicle.

1.

Rear sliding
center glass
handle

Squeeze the rear sliding center glass
handle and move the rear sliding
center glass fully to the driver (LH)
side of the vehicle (Figure 3).

Finesse
tool

Remove the upper run channel as
follows:
a. Using a finesse tool or similar tool,
pull down on the passenger (RH)
side of the upper run channel
(Figure 4).

b. Pull the upper run channel toward
the passenger side of the vehicle
to remove it (Figure 5).


aside.

Remove the rear sliding center glass
as follows:

a. Move the rear sliding center glass
back toward the middle position.
b. Lift the rear sliding center glass up,
and then tilt the bottom toward you
(Figure 6).

c. Pull the rear sliding center glass
down with the bottom tilted toward
you to remove it from the upper
glass channel (Figure 7).

d. Set the rear sliding center glass
aside.

Remove any rear sliding center glass
seal that is loose by pulling them off
(Figure 8).

5.

Use a plastic scraper to remove any
heavy residue or remaining
particles from the seal surface
(Figure 9).

6.

Wipe off any remaining residue on the
seal surface with isopropyl alcohol and
a clean cloth (Figure 10).

7.

Apply 3M® adhesion promoter
(2262AT) to the seal surface
(Figure 11).


HINT: The rear sliding center glass seals come in two different lengths. Compare the length
of the old seal with the new seal before installation.

8.

Install the vertical seals in the orientation
shown in Figure 14.
a. Ensure the opening in the seal is
facing toward the passenger side of
the vehicle.

b. Remove the covering from the
adhesive strip and install the vertical
seal onto the seal surface.

Install the horizontal seals as follows:


If replacing the lower horizontal seal,
ensure the opening in the seal is
facing upward (Figure 15).
o Remove the covering from the
adhesive strip and install the
lower horizontal seal onto the
seal surface.

Using a suitable tool, apply pressure
to the new seal to force out any
excess adhesive (Figure 17).

11.

Reinstall the rear sliding center glass
as follows:

a. Push the rear sliding center glass
upward, into the upper glass
channel (Figure 18).

b. Then, tilt the bottom away from you
and allow it to drop into position.

Tab on upper
run channel

Reinstall the upper run channel as
follows:
a. Identify the tab on the upper run
channel. The side with the tab will
face toward the rear of the vehicle
(Figure 20).

b. Slide the upper run channel into
the window channel, toward the
driver side of the vehicle.

c. Continue to push the upper run
channel toward the driver side until
it is bottomed out.

d. Move the rear sliding center glass
fully to the driver side of the
vehicle.
e. Using a finesse tool or similar,
push upward on the upper run
channel to fully seat it in the
window channel (Figure 22).
f. Test the rear sliding center glass
seals by opening and closing the
rear sliding center glass five (5)
times.
