ISSUE: Customers may experience a variety of symptoms
with their vehicle, including non start, touch screen display
inoperative, windows inoperative, seats in ‘inch’ mode,
instrument pack display, air con panel not illuminated or
no response when selected.
CAUSE: The root cause may be poor retention of the
female terminals for the MS-CAN circuits in the connector
from the cabin harness to the upper tailgate harness
(C44-R2). Terminals 10,17,18 & 21.
ACTION:
1. Disconnect the battery
2. Remove the panel under the glove box (3x 7mm bolts)
3. Unplug the BCM connector C2BP01A to gain access to
connector C2BP01B (grey connector on BCM bottom
edge)
4. Unplug the BCM connector C2BP01B (grey connector
on BCM bottom edge)
5. Connect an ohm meter between pins 4 & 5 of BCM
Content connector C2BP01B (MS CAN)
6. Check that the resistance is around 120 ohms and that
the reading is stable
7. Monitor the resistance reading on the meter whilst
moving connector C44-R2 (this is the upper tailgate
harness to main harness at the rear of headlining, please
view attachment) and the harness around (upper tailgate
under headlining slightly to the right of centre) check the
resistance reading remains stable and no open circuits
are evident.
8. If the resistance is unstable, please replace terminal
pins 10, 17,18 and 21 of connector C44-R2 following the
approved repair procedure. Use terminal part number
YPL500360 from the harness repair kit.
9. If the resistance is stable do not replace the terminals
and continue diagnosis with reference to TOPIx and
Symptom Driven Diagnostics
10. Please submit an EPQR for vehicles where this repair
has been necessary.
