Fuel tank disassembly procedure using tool part no. 887138835
1)
Remove the seat (see sect. 05 "Fairing" of the Workshop Manual).
2)
Remove tank (2) front cover (1) releasing the pins (3) from the relevant rubber supports (4).
3)
Remove the 2 screws (5) securing tank (2) to frame with the relevant spacers (6).

Apply the protective sheath (B) part no. 887138835 along tank (2) upper edge.

Lift fuel tank (2) and position supporting tool (A) part no. 887138835.

Disconnect connector (7) from fuel pump and connector (8) from ground point on tank (2).

Perform a Key-ON and a short engine start so as to lower the pressure inside fuel supply
lines and make the line uncoupling procedure easier.
8)
Disconnect fuel supply line (9) – on the right side – from the fuel pump.
To disconnect the connector, exert a pressure on the outer ring nut with one hand and, at the
same time, remove the male connector with the other hand (this is the correct and sole way to
slide it out).

9)
Disconnect fuel supply pipe (10) – on the left side – from fuel pump.
If fuel supply pipe (10) is positioned on the fuel pump supply connector, move it slowly to the left to
make the uncoupling procedure easier.
To disconnect the connector, exert a pressure on the outer ring nut with one hand and, at the
same time, remove the male connector with the other hand (this is the correct and sole way to
slide it out).

10) Slide out drain lines and remove fuel tank (2).

Insert drain lines.
2)
Connect fuel supply line (10) – on the left side – to fuel pump.

The line is verified to be correctly fitted once a "CLICK" can be heard during installation, and an
attempt to slide out the male connector is made. Failure to disconnect certifies the correct fitting.

Connect fuel supply line (9) – on the right side – to fuel pump by respecting the following
procedure:

The line is verified to be correctly fitted once a "CLICK" can be heard during installation, and an

Connect connector (7) to fuel pump and connector (8) to ground point on tank (2).

Remove the protective sheath (B) from tank (2) and tank supporting tool (A)

Lower tank (2) making sure that fuel supply lines (9) and (10) are not crushed between tank and
frame, positioning them to avoid kinking.
7)
Insert the 2 spacers (6) on the rubber blocks pre-assembled on tank (2) and tighten the 2 screws (5)
to a torque of 10 Nm ± 10%.

Fit tank (2) front cover (1) inserting the pins (3) inside the relevant rubber supports (4).
9)
Connect the DDS 2.0 and delete any error caused by the Key-ON with disconnected fuel
pump connectors.
10) Fit the seat (see sect. 05 "Fairing" of the Workshop Manual).
We inform you that this tool will be part of Ducati Service standard equipment; therefore the tool
will be auto-shipped to Dealers.

CAUTION – The tool part no. 887138835 for the Scrambler fuel tank disassembling and reassembling
will be available from 11/17/2015; please, do not enter any order into the system before this date.
IMPORTANT:
All dealers that signed the auto-shipment agreement will receive the above noted tool. As this is a required
tool, dealers that did not sign the auto-shipment agreement must order the tool using the part number listed
above.
Dealers with parts accounts that are not in good standing will not be auto-shipped the tool. Please place a
manual order with Ducati North America via the Credit Hold Order Form.
