Update software and perform initial startup in the electrical seat adjustment control units (all)
Model 223.9
 Ensure use of XENTRY Diagnosis version 06/2021 or higher.
 Before starting the work procedure, install the current version of all add-ons in XENTRY
Diagnosis.
 Make sure to follow the operation steps exactly as described in XENTRY Diagnosis.
 Use a battery charger to ensure sufficient power supply of the vehicle on-board electrical
system battery (greater than 12.5 V).
 If XENTRY Diagnosis is already connected to the vehicle, start with operation step 2.
If two or more software updates or SCN codings are performed during one workshop
visit, operation items 02-4762 and 02-5058 may be invoiced
only once for each workshop order.
Work procedure
1. Connect XENTRY Diagnosis.
2. Update the driver's seat electrical seat adjustment control unit software.
To do this, select menu item "Quick test view – N32/1 Electrical seat adjustment "driver" with
memory function (ESA "driver") – Adaptations – Control unit update – Updating of control unit
software".
Then follow the user guidance in XENTRY Diagnosis.
3. Perform initial startup of driver's seat electrical seat adjustment control unit.
To do this, select menu item "Quick test view – N32/1 Electrical seat adjustment "driver" with
memory function (ESA "driver") – Adaptations – Control unit initial startup – Initial startup of alreadyinstalled control unit".
Then follow the user guidance in XENTRY Diagnosis.
4. Update the front passenger electrical seat adjustment control unit software.
To do this, select menu item "Quick test view – N32/2 - Electrical seat adjustment "front
passenger" with memory function (ESA "front passenger") - Adaptations – Control unit update –
Updating of control unit software".
Then follow the user guidance in XENTRY Diagnosis.
5. Perform initial startup of front passenger electrical seat adjustment control unit.
To do this, select menu item "Quick test view – N32/2 Electrical seat adjustment "front
passenger" with memory function (ESA "front passenger") – Adaptations – Control unit initial startup –
Initial startup of already-installed control unit".
Then follow the user guidance in XENTRY Diagnosis.

6. Update the left rear electrical seat adjustment control unit software.
To do this, select menu item "Quick test view – N32/5 Left rear electrical seat adjustment (Left
rear ESE) – Adaptations – Control unit update – Updating of control unit software".
Then follow the user guidance in XENTRY Diagnosis.
7. Perform initial startup of left rear electrical seat adjustment control unit.
To do this, select menu item "Quick test view – N32/5 Left rear electrical seat adjustment (Left
rear ESE) – Adaptations – Control unit initial startup – Initial startup of already-installed control unit".
Then follow the user guidance in XENTRY Diagnosis.
8. Update the right rear electrical seat adjustment control unit software.
To do this, select menu item "Quick test view – N32/6 Right rear electrical seat adjustment
(Right rearESE) – Adaptations – Control unit update – Updating of control unit software".
Then follow the user guidance in XENTRY Diagnosis.
9. Perform initial startup of right rear electrical seat adjustment control unit.
To do this, select menu item "Quick test view – N32/6 Right rear electrical seat adjustment
(Right rear ESE) – Adaptations – Control unit initial startup – Initial startup of already-installed control
unit".
Then follow the user guidance in XENTRY Diagnosis.
10. Disconnect XENTRY Diagnosis.
