Purpose
This document outlines the retrofit procedure for installing a crossmember between the rear jacks on a
Forest River Sunseeker/Forester Class C #450 chassis built before November 2020.

Safety

may cause death, serious personal injury or severe product or property damage if not performed
safely and within the parameters set forth in this instruction sheet.
The trailer must be properly supported per the manufacturer's recommendations before working
underneath. Failure to do so may result in death or serious personal injury.
The "CAUTION" symbol above is a sign that a safety risk is involved and may cause personal injury or
product or trailer damage if not performed safely within the parameters set forth in this document.
Always wear eye protection when performing service or maintenance to the trailer. Other safety
equipment to consider would be hearing protection, gloves and possibly a full face shield,
depending on the nature of the service.

Make sure rear jacks are straight. If jacks are bent, straighten them and verify they are vertical by using
a level.
Remove the bottom two flange nuts securing the rear jacks to the mounting brackets (Fig. 1).
Place one end of the crossmember on the open bolts of one jack (Fig. 2) and spread the telescoping
crossmember to span the distance to the other rear jack.
Install the other end of the crossmember on the open bolts on the bottom of the other rear jack.

NOTE: On steel jacks, a retract hose or hoses may need to be shifted to permit access for the flange nut
removal and installation of the crossmember. If this is necessary, release the jam nut securing
the hose (Fig. 3A) and swivel the fitting out of the way. Remove the flange nut on the jack. After
relocating hose or hoses to allow crossmember to be installed, tighten the hose jam nut so it is snug
and then add another one-quarter turn to ensure the hose is secure.

Reinstall the four flange nuts on the jack bolts and torque to 90 ft lbs for aluminum jacks (Fig. 4) and
52-64 ft-lbs for steel jacks.

Locate three pre-drilled holes in the center of the crossmember (Fig. 5).
Insert self-tapping screws into the pre-drilled holes (Fig. 5) and tighten sufficiently so the screws self
tap through the inner section of the crossmember.
