HALF (HAPTIC Lane Feedback) – Anomolies
NOTE: The below in depth diagnostic procedures are to be used along with the procedures
listed in the Workshop Manuals if a more comprehensive diagnosis is required.
Section: 08.73-1 DRIVE ASSISTANCE SYSTEM
Model: M156/M157/M161
Problem:
Malfunction of the ADAS systems related to the HALF (HAPTIC Lane Feedback, i.e.
Forward Looking Camera) module.
The following error messages can be displayed on Cluster, an example is shown in Figure 1:
• ACC/FCW Limited Functionality | Service Required
• Adaptive Front Lighting System Not available | Service required
• Lane Keeping Assist not available
• Traffic Sign Assist Not available | Service required
• Active Blind Spot Assist not available
No specific condition triggers the issue.

Errors in ECUs:
Possible DTCs in HALF ECU:
• C008E-00 Internal ECU performance
• C2212-00 ECU in plant mode
• C008F-00 Calibration not learned
Possible DTCs in DASM ECU:
• U148D-00 Implausible Data Received from Forward Facing Camera
Checks:
1. Preliminary checks:
a. Verify the correct installation of the HALF module on the mounting bracket.
b. Verify the integrity and cleanliness of the windscreen in the area related to the
HALF module.
c. Save DTCs+Parameters report of all the ECUs which have errors.
2. If the DTC C2212-00 ECU in plant mode is set in the HALF ECU, this means that it is
in plant mode. Use the Diagnostic Tool to perform the HALF > Active Diagnosis
> Exit plant mode and then perform the calibration as described in the Workshop
Manual Procedure 08.71.226 – 40 LANE ASSIST CAMERA MODULE - Adjustments.
If there are other DTCs in the HALF and DASM modules, try to delete them and then
carry out the calibration.
3. If it’s impossible to delete the DTC and complete the calibration, check the power
supply, connectors, and grounds as per the wiring diagram FE0526 - Lane Departure
Warning (LDW). Also, check the connections between HALF and DASM.
Considerations:
If no anomaly is detected from the requested Checks, the problem may be due to an internal
malfunction of the HALF.
It will necessary to submit a BOL Support Request, reporting the results of the above tests and
attaching the DTC+Parameters report.
