Title: Oil Leaks at the Bottom of the Oil Filter Module

DESCRIPTION

This document will introduuce a new seal kit that is availble to service oil leaks at the bottom of the oil filter module. This kit can
be used to reseal the square plate located at the bottom of the module on all A26, N13, and 2010 11 & 13L engines.

SYMPTOMS

An oil leak may develop on the right side of the engine at the bottom portion of the oil filter module.

REPAIR STEP(S)

WARNING! To prevent property damage, personal injury, and / or death, park vehicle on a hard,
flat surface, turn the engine off, set the parking brake, and install wheel chocks to prevent the
vehicle from moving in either direction.

WARNING! To prevent property damage, personal injury, and / or death, if the vehicle must be
raised, do not work under the vehicle supported only by jacks. Jacks can slip or fall over.

WARNING! To prevent personal injury and / or death, always wear safe eye protection when
performing vehicle maintenance.

WARNING! To prevent property damage, personal injury, and / or death, keep flames or sparks
away from vehicle and do not smoke while servicing the vehicle’s batteries. Batteries expel
explosive gases.

[WARNING To prevent property damage, personal injury, and / or death, remove the ground
cable from the negative terminal of the battery box before disconnecting any electrical
components. Always connect the ground cable last.

REMOVAL PROCEDURE:

1. This repair will require removal of the complete oil filter module assembly from the engine. Navigate to the Master Service
Information Site and follow the guidelines outlined in the applicable Service Manual to remove the oil filter module assembly.

2. Once the oil filter module is off the engine, remove the four bolts (Figure #2 Item 2) from the housing assembly.

3. Remove and discard the rubber seal from inside the seal groove (Figure #3 Item 1) in the housing.

4. Clean the seal groove (Figure #3 Item 1) of any oil or loose debris.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:

5. Install new seal dry (Figure #2 Item 1) into the groove (Figure #3 Item 1).

6. Install the new cover (Figure #2 Item 3) and the four new bolts (Figure #2 Item 2).

7. Torque the four bolts to 12 +/- 2 Nm (9 +/- 1 lb-ft).

8. Install the oil filter module assembly back on the engine as outlined in the Service Manual.

9. Install the new turbo oil supply line. It is recommended to replace this line as damage can occur to the flex portion of the line
during removal and installation.
