Some customers may comment on an intermittent SIR System AIR BAG indicator on. Upon investigation a
technician may find DTC B0014-04 set in the Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM).
Cause
This may be caused by the driver side airbag connector under the seat rubbing on the floor carpet causing
the connector to have a loose connection, causing the light to come on and set a DTC.
Correction
If you encounter a vehicle with the above concern, complete the following steps:
1.
Inspect the connector under the seat to see if the connector is rubbing on the carpet when the seat is pulled forward and backwards.
2.
If the connector is verified to be rubbing on the carpet, remove the seat. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Removal and Installation in SI.
3.
With the seat removed, locate the air bag connector.
4.
Push in the cable locker using a pick or awl as illustrated above to loosen the cable tie so that it can be moved.

5.
Once the cable tie is loose enough, move the cable tie 80 mm (3.15 in) from the end of the connector as illustrated above.
6.
Re-tighten the cable tie in its new location and install the cable tie back on the wire connector mounting plate.
7.
Gently press the wire connector mounting plate so that it is parallel to the seat pan.
8.
Reinstall all the electrical connectors to the seat so that the wires are exiting the connector and are wrapped along the side of the connectors as
illustrated above.
9.
Reinstall the seat and verify that the concern is corrected by moving the seat forward and backwards.
