Certain 2022 model year Blue Bird Vision School Bus units that are equipped with a ROUSH CleanTech 7.3L V8
gasoline or propane engine, with or without an air pump, Roush and Blue Bird have identified a concern with
falsely setting misfire codes. This may or may not be combined with fuel gauge accuracy concerns and these
concerns may cause a check engine light to be illuminated.
Affected Units:
Roush and Blue Bird is voluntarily issuing a Service Bulletin for the following:
 Certain model year 2022 Blue Bird Vision School Buses
o Manufactured from May 3, 2021 through July 16, 2021
A separate printout will be provided listing all buses in your territory that are affected by this service bulletin.
Service Bulletin S21BK will be mailed to all owners on record. Be sure to review your list and advise of any
incorrect owner names and/or addresses.
Repair Parts:
No additional parts/items are required to perform Service Bulletin S21BK. Please reference the Roush Instructions
and reference the link to obtain a Voucher Code.
Labor Reimbursement
Complete ROUSH CleanTech warranty claim for reimbursement. A warranty claim was automatically generated
when obtaining your voucher code. Reprogramming is covered using operation RCTE04B – Powertrain Control
Module (PCM) - Reprogramming and pays 0.5 hours at your current established warranty labor rate. Once flashing
is completed, you can attach a copy of your Repair Order (RO) to the case for payment. Roush CleanTech will notify
Blue Bird Campaigns Administration of the completion of Service Bulletin S21BK.

update on the vehicle.

Software Updates for 2022 Blue Bird Vision Buses with or without Air Pump Option

Description:
Roush and Blue Bird is voluntarily issuing a Service Bulletin for the following:
 Certain model year 2022 Blue Bird Vision School Buses
o Manufactured from May 3, 2021 through July 16, 2021
On some Blue Bird buses that are equipped with a ROUSH CleanTech 7.3L V8 gasoline or propane engine,
with or without an air pump, we have identified a concern with falsely setting misfire codes. This may or may
not be combined with fuel gauge accuracy concerns and these concerns may cause a check engine light to be
illuminated.
Tools Needed
 Most up-to-date version of the ROUSH Diagnostic Tool (https://rdt.roush.com/RoushRDT/)
o A stable internet connection and a fully powered laptop are required to complete this procedure.
 Voucher Code (see end of the document for more information)
Procedure:
This procedure needs to be completed in the exact order of operation listed below to ensure that the concern
remediated.
1. Connect the 16-pin connector on your approved scan tool device to the bus OBD II port, with the USB
end plugging into the USB port on your laptop.
a. A stable internet connection and a fully powered laptop are required to complete this procedure.
2. Open a RDT session and ensure that the software is up-to-date and the correct pass-through device is
selected at the top of the screen.
a. If RDT is not up-to-date, update the software to the most recent version of RDT and restart the
program.
b. If the correct device is not selected, use the drop-down menu to select the correct device and
restart the program.
3. Identify the vehicle by clicking ‘Vehicle ID’ on the left side of the screen.
4. Once the vehicle is ID’d, select ‘Module Programing’ on the left side of the screen.
5. Next, select ‘Vehicle Parameters’ from the buttons at the center of the screen.
a. Note: If a “No IPC Connection” warning appears, click ‘OK.’
6. Click ‘Read Module’ at the bottom left of the screen.
7. Ensure the key is in the ON position (with the engine OFF) and click ‘OK’. The current vehicle parameters
will appear in the “Module Value” column.

a. If red text pops up on the top of the screen that reads “Module Requires an Update. Press the
Write Configuration button to start the update”, click ‘Update Module.’
b. If the text does not pop up, then the update has already been performed and skip to step 8.
c. The status window on the left side of RDT will alert you that the “Module Parameters Read
Successful” when the procedure is complete.
Next, flash the PCM.
a. Please follow steps 1-4 to begin the PCM Flashing procedure.
After completing steps 1-4, click on ‘PCM Flash.’
Enter in the voucher code that was provided to you by ROUSH CleanTech Technical Support.
Click ‘Redeem Now.’
Click ‘Flash’ and ‘OK.’
Follow the onscreen instructions to ensure that the flash completes properly.
