GRIP HANDLE INSPECTION AND REPAIR (SA483)
This bulletin provides information to inspect the two (2) (LHS & RHS) front door trim grip handles on some
2022MY Stinger (CK) vehicles produced from February 25, 2021 through June 17, 2021, which may have the
grip handle detached from the inside door trim. Follow the procedure outlined in this publication to inspect
the front door trim grip handles and replace the door inside handle bracket screws or replace the front door
trim as outlined in the inspection. Before conducting the procedure, verify that the vehicle is included in the
list of affected VINs.

NOTICE
A Service Action is a repair program without customer notification that is performed during the
warranty period. Any dealer requesting to perform this repair outside the warranty period will
require DPSM approval.
Repair status for a VIN is provided on WebDCS (Service → Warranty Coverage → Warranty Coverage
Inquiry → Campaign Information). Not completed Recall / Service Action reports are available on
WebDCS (Consumer Affairs → Not Completed Recall → Recall VIN → Select Report), which includes
a list of affected vehicles.

SUBJECT:
Inspection Procedure:
1.
Open the driver (LHS) door and check the inside
door trim (A) grip handle (B) for the following
conditions:

A. If the grip handle (B) is detached from
the door trim panel (as shown to the
right), then replace the front door trim
panel assembly by referring to the
“Body (Interior and Exterior) → Front
Door → Front Door Trim → Repair
procedures” in the applicable Shop
Manual on KGIS.
B. If the grip handle is not detached,
replace the front door inside handle
bracket
screws
by
following
the
‘Replacement Procedure’ outlined on
page 3.
2.
Open the passenger (RHS) door, repeat the
inspection from step 1 above and the applicable
repair per the condition found.

SUBJECT:
Replacement Procedure (Grip Handle Screws):
1.
Remove the front door trim (A) by referring to
the “Body (Interior and Exterior) → Front Door
→ Front Door Trim → Repair procedures” in the
applicable Shop Manual on KGIS.
NOTICE
Use a non-marring trim removal tool
(such as Snap-on® Part Number PBN5
or equivalent) to avoid damaging trim

pieces.
2.
Carefully separate the soundproofing felt (B)
from the door trim panel starting from the two
(2) areas shown.

CAUTION
Place door trim on an anti-scratch
pad/surface. Be careful NOT to tear
the soundproofing felt (B). Damage to
either part will require replacement.
3.
Lift the soundproofing felt (B) over to access the
inside door handle grip mounting bracket (C).

Press down on the mounting bracket (C) with
one hand as shown.
4b.
Loosen the outside screw (D) first and install the
new longer screw.

Continue pressing down on the mounting
bracket (C) with one hand as shown.
Loosen the inner screw (E) second and install
the new longer screw.

Be sure to replace the two (2) screws
in the suggested order (D) 1st. & (E) 2nd.

Confirm that the grip handle is secured tight by
pulling on the handle.
6.
Attach
the
soundproofing
felt
using
the
supplied non-woven fabric pads (F) on the
edges as shown.

7.
Reassemble the front door trim in the reverse
order of disassembly.
