SECONDARY HOOD LATCH BRACKET
INSPECTION
Preparation:
 Place 2 layers of electrical tape over the blade of a flat blade screwdriver.
(See Figures A and B below)

SERVICE PROCEDURE:
1. Open the hood.

2. Locate the secondary hood latch
bracket that is welded to the front
bumper retainer bracket shown in
Figure 1.

3. Place the tape covered flat blade
screwdriver onto the secondary hood
latch bracket at a 45° angle as shown
in Figure 2.

4. Check weld condition of the secondary
hood latch bracket.


Using the palm of hand, with
moderate pressure, tap on the end
of the screwdriver handle 3-5 times.
(Figure 3)

5. Did the secondary hood latch bracket become detached from the front bumper
retainer bracket?

 NO – No further action is needed, close the hood and see claims information.

 YES – Proceed to Step 6 for front bumper retainer bracket replacement

6. Remove the (13) retaining clips
securing the core support cover.

the splash guard shown in Figure 5.

8. Remove the front grille following the removal and installation instructions in the
Electronic Service Manual (ESM).

9. Remove the front bumper energy
absorber from the front bumper
retainer bracket by gently pulling away
from the front of the vehicle. (Figure 6)

10. Remove the horn assembly. (Figure 7)

Disconnect the (2) electrical
connectors from the horn



Remove the horn securing bolt

11. Disengage the (2) harness retainers
and remove the harness from the front
bumper retainer bracket. (Figure 8)

12. Remove the (2) lower securing bolts.
(Figure 9)

13. Remove the (2) upper center securing
bolts. (Figure 10)

14. Remove the LH side and RH side
securing bolts. (Figure 11)

15. If equipped with Around View Monitor
(AVM), rotate the front bumper
retainer bracket over and disengage
the harness connector retainer for the
front camera. (Figure 12)

16. Remove the front bumper retainer bracket from the vehicle.

17. Reinstall the new front bumper retainer bracket in reverse order. Torque all
fasteners to 8 N●m(2.1 kg-m, 70 in-lb).


If equipped with AVM, perform CALIBRATING CAMERA IMAGE (INTELLIGENT
AROUND VIEW MONITOR) in the ESM.
