PRO SERIES 12,000 LB. STATIC CAPACITY JACK

WASHER INSERT INSTRUCTIONS

PURPOSE TO DESCRIBE THE PROCEDURE FOR TAKING APART THE PRO SERIES JACKS

TO ADD A WASHER TO THE CROSS SHAFT BETWEEN THE PINION GEAR AND
THE HEX BUSHING.

REMOVE TWO (2) GEAR BOX COVER SCREWS AND GEAR BOX COVER.

PULL COMPRESSION SPRING BACK FROM PINION GEAR TO EXPOSE STRAIGHT PIN.
ROTATE CROSS SHAFT APPROXIMATELY 45° OR UNTIL THE STRAIGHT PIN CLEARS THE
TEETH OF THE LOWER BEVEL GEAR AND REMOVE PIN.

SLIDE SHAFT AWAY FROM PINION GEAR UNTIL SHAFT IS FREE FROM HEX BUSHING BEHIND:
PINION GEAR.

INSERT THE WASHER ONTO CROSS SHAFT BEHIND PINION GEAR. (AS SHOWN BELOW)
RE-INSERT CROSS SHAFT THROUGH HEX BUSHING.

SLIDE CROSS SHAFT BACK INTO POSITION SO THAT HOLE IN CROSS SHAFT LINES UP WITH
HOLE IN PINION GEAR,

PULL COMPRESSION SPRING BACK AND RE-INSERT STRAIGHT PIN INTO PINION GEAR AND
CROSS SHAFT.

RELEASE COMPRESSION SPRING TO SECURE PIN INTO PLACE.

10, REPLACE GEAR BOX COVER.

WASHER SPECIFICATION: SAE FLAT WASHER, I” ID X 2” O.D, X 9/64” (0.134") THICK

12 K Cequent Jack

Some 12K jacks are having problems
with the raising and lowering gearset
in the top of the jack. Manufacturing
date codes F14 & M14

To verify that you are looking at one
of the suspect Cequent 12k jacks
please do the following:

* Orient the jack so the drop leg
handle is on your left as you
face the jack.

Date Stamp Location

Locate the manufacturing date code:
it will be located in this upper right
side of the jack adjacent to the
handle, with the jack still orientated
in the same direction as the picture
on slide #1.

Look for “F14” or “M14” — if you find
any “F14” do not use this unless
absolutely necessary; if you find
“M14” follow the inspection and
verification testing called out on
slide #3.

M14 Date Code Testing Procedure

* With jack still orientated in the same
location as slide #1; push the jack
handle in;

* The bushing and handle should push
inward approximately .060 to .100 of
an inch or flush with the jack outer
face.

* See Slide #5 for picture of a bushing
with to much tolerance in it.

M14 Date Code Testing Procedure

If the jack passes the push in
tolerance test from slide #3, then
move on to the rotational test.

Taking hold of the jack handles
rotate them in the counterclockwise
direction until the jack extends or
moves about %” an inch.

Repeat the process in the clockwise
direction retracting or moving the
jack back to it’s original position.

If the handles turn freely and no
binding or gear skipping is felt then
the jack is ok to use.
