General Information
If the wiring harness is not routed properly, harness chaffing may occur on certain New Cascadia
vehicles equipped with Detroit Assurance 5.0 Side Guard Assist (data book code 73K-002).

Side Guard Assist Short-Range Radar Right (SRRR) Harness Inspection
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface, shut down the engine and apply the parking brakes. Chock
the tires.
2. Disconnect the batteries.
3. Remove the covers from the short-range radar right (SRRR) modules on the passenger side of
the vehicle.
4. Remove the fairing to gain access to wiring routing. For instructions, see section 31.03, subject
100 Forward Fairing Removal and Installation in the New Cascadia Workshop Manual. See Fig. 3
for an image of the SRRR modules with the fairing removed.

5. Inspect the harness routing to the two radar modules.
5.1 Repair any damaged wiring.

5.2 Reroute and properly secure the harness to eliminate the possibility of chafing against
the radar or ATD brackets. Reference figures 4 and 5 for guidance on how to properly
secure the SRRR harness.
If fasteners are not present, refer to the fastener parts table and illustration for
descriptions, part numbers, and quantities needed.
