Summary
SERVICE ACTION: CHECK BADGE ON TAILGATE, REPLACE IF NECESSARY . The "BMW
" trunklid emblem (arrow) which contains the rear-view camera may not have been correctly fastened during vehicle production. It is possible that the emblem & camera may become detached from the vehicle, such as when going through an automated car wash.

SITUATION
The “BMW” trunklid emblem (arrow) which
contains the rear-view camera may not have
been correctly fastened during vehicle
production.
It is possible that the emblem & camera may
become detached from the vehicle, such as
when going through an automated car wash.
Note: The trunklid release is not located at the
emblem as it is on the 8 Series, but above the
license plate area.
CAUSE
The badge may not have been properly installed.
CORRECTION
Check the attachment of the emblem. Replace if
needed.
The rear-view camera is located at the “6:00”
position (arrow).
PROCEDURE
Apply a light force between the trunklid and the emblem.
If the emblem cannot be moved by applying slight force, the emblem can remain on the vehicle.
If the emblem lifts off the trunklid, the emblem must be removed, and a new emblem must be attached.
