 Warning lamp for adaptive light malfunction or the running gear is displayed in the instrument cluster.
Workshop findings:
One of the following DTCs are sporadically or permanently stored in the comfort system central control module,
J393 (address word 0046) OR in the suspension control module, J775 (address word 0074):
 DTC C103407 (Left front level control system sensor, open circuit/short circuit to B+)
 DTC C103415 (Front left vehicle level sender, open circuit/short circuit to B+).
 DTC C103429 (Front left vehicle level sender, Implausible signal).
 DTC C103404 (Front left vehicle level sender faulty).

Technical Background
Damage to the left front level sensor (G78) wire harness may have occurred during production. This can result in
the harness becoming oxidized underneath the protective corrugated tube.

Improved wiring harness installation.

Service
If one of the above faults are stored the wire harness will need to be inspected for damage.
1.

Peel back the corrugated tube and
inspect the wiring of the front left
level sensor (G78) about 5 to 10
cm after the connector (Figure 1).

If there is damage in this area, repair the wires with the VAS1978B.
Tip: If multiple wires are affected the repairs will need to be staggered to fit within the corrugated
tube.

Once the repair is complete, wrap the harness from the rubber sleeve to the first mounting clip with tape N
106 497 02 then refit the corrugated tube over the harness.

Check from which side of the
sensor bracket the first mounting
clip for the corrugated tube is
attached. The first clip of the
corrugated tube must be attached
on the sensor side of the bracket. If
the clip is incorrectly attached
(Figure 2), refit the clip (Figure 3).
