Inform Aluma dealers and owners that 7710 and 7712 heavy duty trailers have fender and tire clearance
problem when trailer has heavy load placed on it
Solution: Use .5” thick spacers to extend axle mounting position to eliminate fender clearance problem.
Aluma will allow .5 hours of labor to be submitted for installation of retrofit.

Note: The following parts are required for update and do not substitute any of these parts.
Retrofit Instructions:
Warning: Use appropriate jack and jack stands, ensure weight ratings capacity exceed weight of trailer.
Park trailer on hard level surface.
1.0 Using jack raise and place trailer on four jack stands and remove wheels. Retain lug nuts for later
use. Warning: Never go under your trailer unless it is on firm level ground and resting on properly
located rated secured jack stands.
2.0 Hold axle in position using two jack stands, loosen, then remove and discard old hardware. (bolts,
nuts and washers) Caution: Use appropriate PPEs when disassembling and assembling.
3.0 Lower axle and install the new axle bolts into the axle mount. Place the ½” spacer on axle before
installing the axle back onto trailer. See Figure 3. For easier spacer installation use tape to hold
spacer onto axle mount. (if needed)
4.0 Place the spacer against the axle stop that is welded to the current axle mount. Do not remove
barrier material. Place axle on the trailer, put on the washers followed by the nylock nuts. DO NOT
TIGHTEN AXLES YET. See Figure 2
5.0 Make sure ½” spacer is against the axle stop and axle bracket is flush with the ½”spacer as shown.

6.0 Center the hubs so that they are evenly spaced on both sides of trailers. Verify distance from axle
mount side to axle outside face of hub. See Figure 4. Once this is completed tighten axle hardware
and then use calibrated torqueing wrench to tighten to 110 ft/lbs.
7.0 Place tires onto axle and tighten lug nuts using torque wrench to 110ft/lbs. See Aluma Owner’s
Manual for lug nut torque tightening sequence. Note: Tires should not rub on fender.

8.0 Verify work has been completed and hardware is secured. Raise trailer and remove jack stands.
9.0 Lower trailer and perform driving functional test to verify trailer is traveling correctly.
