Technical Background
Available software updates to the DME and both Power Electronics presented below in Table 1 remedy the
aforementioned condition. Programming these control units is dependent on their starting software number and
version. Tester software version 40.250.030 (or higher) is necessary for the SW in Table 1. Additionally, PT3G
testers should always operate at the most current software version release available. This software is now also
included in both the WMA5 and WMA6 Campaigns for model year 2020 and 2021 vehicles, respectively. Please
refer to the ‘Service Information’ section on page 3 for further information and instruction.

Service Information
Please follow the fault tree diagram below in Figure 1 to achieve the target software levels provided in Table1.
If performing an automatic programming and coding is necessary as prescribed in Figure 1, then updating the
DME, or High-voltage power electronics (front or rear) will program all three control units in the same tester
programming routine.
Please follow the workshop manual instructions associated with the labor operations on page 4.
