Loss
Dear Sea-Doo Dealer,
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor
Vehicle Safety Act (United States) and the Motor Vehicle Safety Act (Canada). BRP has
decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists on some 2021 Sea-Doo
MOVE trailers and is conducting a safety recall.
What is the potential problem?
On a limited number of units manufactured by Karavan Trailers, the wheel spindles were
improperly welded to the axle. In some situations, this could result in a wheel loss, increasing
the risk of a crash.
Which models are involved?
A limited quantity of serial numbers of model year 2021 Sea-Doo MOVE trailers.
What will BRP do?
BRP intends to repair involved trailers, free of charge for the customer. BRP will also cover the
cost of transportation for units that need to be brought to the dealers.
For customers:
Information for all customers will be posted on its public website (www.sea-doo.com).
BRP will send a Safety Recall letter to all known registered owners. This letter urges owners to
perform an inspection before use and, if necessary, contact their authorized BRP dealer in order
to schedule an appointment to have their trailer repaired if needed.
For dealers:
BRP is publishing a Safety Campaign Bulletin.
BRP is posting this notice and attached Safety Campaign Bulletin on BOSSWeb’s Knowledge
Center (www.bossweb.brp.com).
What should you do?
 Do not deliver any involved trailer that you have in stock as federal law requires you to
complete the recall service on these trailers before retail delivery.
 Contact all your customers who have purchased an affected unit. You must:
o Inform them of this recall.
o Explain the required inspection to identify the batch number on the axle and ask
them to make an appointment to get their trailer repaired if needed.
o Request that they do not use the trailer until the inspection and until the
corrective action is performed, if needed.
 Follow all instructions provided in the attached Safety Campaign.

Please note that the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act provides that each vehicle
which is subject to a recall campaign of this type must be adequately repaired within a
reasonable time after the owner has tendered it for repair. Failure to repair within sixty (60) days
after tender of a vehicle is prima facie evidence of failure to repair within a reasonable time. The
owner may be entitled to an identical or reasonably equivalent vehicle at no charge or to a
refund of the purchase price less a reasonable allowance for depreciation.

PROBLEM

PARTS REQUIRED

On a limited number of units manufactured by
Karavan Trailers, the wheel spindles were improperly welded to the axle. In some situations, this
could result in a wheel loss, increasing the risk of

Order parts through Karavan using the following informations. The parts will be sent free of
charge.
The trailer VIN and the axle serial number will have
to be provided to Karavan Trailers to get the replacement axle.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Remove both wheels.

Inspection
Inspect axle tag, located in the middle of the axle
and take note the Batch number.
NOTE: The axle tag will be either a white sticker
(as shown) or a metal plate.

Remove axle assembly by removing and discarding the 4 nuts, the U-bolt and the spring pad on
each side.

If the trailer is from one of the affected batches,
proceed to AXLE REPLACEMENT. If not, no further action is required.
In case the batch number is not visible or missing,
proceed to AXLE REPLACEMENT.

Axle Replacement
Lift and secure trailer. Trailer must be blocked off
the ground to remove all weight from the tires.

Ensure the trailer is properly supported and
unladen.

The installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. However, pay attention to the following.
Ensure to position the new axle with the locating
holes downward.

Install both wheels. Ensure the taper of the lug
nut is facing toward the wheel. Tighten to specification in a star pattern.

Line up the locating hole in the axle with the centre bolt of the spring stack.

Defective Axle

WARRANTY

Remove the axle tag by cutting on each side of
the axle assembly. Discard remaining of the axle
assembly in compliance with the local authorities.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
BRP has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists on some 2021 SeaDoo MOVE trailers.
Our records show that you own a potentially affected trailer.
What is the potential problem?
On a limited number of units manufactured by Karavan Trailers, the wheel spindles were
improperly welded to the axle. In some situations, this could result in a wheel loss, increasing
the risk of a crash.
Which models are involved?
A limited quantity of serial numbers of model year 2021 Sea-Doo MOVE trailers.
What will BRP do?
BRP will repair your trailer free of charge. The corrective action involves an inspection of the
axle batch number. If it is part of the affected batch, the axle will be replaced and transportation
of the trailer to your dealership will be paid by BRP. This service should take about one hour.
If it is not part of the affected batch, no further action will be required.
What should you do?
Do not use your trailer UNTIL the inspection or repair has been done.
Inspection:
Identify the batch number on your axle. If the batch number is NOT 256 or 258 or 260.
No further action is required and you can continue to use your trailer.
If the batch number is either 256 or 258 or 260, or if you are unable to identify the batch
number, contact your authorized BRP Sea-Doo dealer to schedule an appointment and arrange
for transportation of the trailer. The dealer will perform the safety recall.
If it is possible, send the trailer WITHOUT the PWC on it.

any information in this notice is incorrect, please contact BRP at your earliest convenience.

If you are a vehicle lessor, federal law requires that any vehicle lessor receiving this recall
notice must forward a copy of this notice to the lessee within ten days.
