Rear lid trim panel (also referred to as tailgate cover/cover)

Information:

In the event of rattling noises from around the rear lid trim panel, only the two clips ( Figure 1
-inset-) should be replaced.
If the rear lid trim panel (cover) is strained as a result of being pressed upwards by a large object (e.g. a
large piece of luggage), the increased tension on the trim panel can bend the metal clips (cams).
 As a result, the trim panel will rattle in its bracket.

Remedial
action:

In the event of a customer complaint about rattling noises from around the rear lid trim panel, only the
two metal clips (cams) must be replaced, see  Workshop Manual '708719 Removing and installing trim
panel for rear lid'.
 Remove the two existing clips (999.507.413.08 sheetmetal clips) by pulling them forward and
replace them with new ones.
