1. Prior to installation, you must mark the front wall of the trailer. The center of the reefer unit and the center of the
vertical support posts for the reefer unit should be marked as illustrated in Diagram 1.
2. Installation begins with the pallet stops. Mount each pallet stop as shown in Diagram 1. Position the pallet stop so the
tall side is to the top. Place the shorter side on the floor or into the drain trough if present. Pre-drill and fasten with 2 ½”
self-threading metal screws into the vertical posts. Additional wood screws may be used if necessary.
3. Install both latches as shown in Diagram 1. Start by locating the two vertical posts that support the reefer unit. Each
latch is mounted 35” from center of the unit or 70” apart – measured from the mounting screw hole – and a minimum of
18” from the top mounting hole on the latch to the top of the pallet stop.
If installation of the latch interferes with the mounting stud covers, always mount the latch on the high side of the mounting
stud covers at shown in Diagram 2. For proper installation, the bulkhead must not contact the pallet stops regardless of
style used.

NOTE: If the reefer unit has side air intake holes, the Vortex must be raised enough to cover them.

4. Next, measure up the post and screw the “A” track pieces as shown in Diagram 3 and 4. Each “A” track
piece is installed 35” from the top mounting hole on the latch to the bottom mounting hole on the “A”
track Pre-drill and fasten with 2 ½” self-threading metal screws.
5. Before you can install the Vortex, you must finish installing the filter screen. Each of the support cones has

a metal tab on it. Fold each tab out, pull the screen down over the metal tabs, and fold the tabs flat.
6. To install the Vortex, slide the corresponding holes in the Vortex over the metal latches. Push the Vortex to

the front wall and down to seat the Vortex firmly on the latches.
**IMPORTANT NOTICE WHEN INSTALLING WITH CARRIER TRANSICOLD’S VECTOR TM
REFRIGERATION UNIT**
Shielding tape is included with this unit and must be placed on the backside of the Vortex to provide added protection against
the air intake grate located on the face side of the Vector unit (Diagram 3)

7. Once the bulkhead is seated firmly on the latches you must note and mark where the Vector air intake grate lines up on
the Vortex bulkhead.
8. Remove the bulkhead from the front wall and apply the self adhesive shielding tape to the backside of the Vortex in the
area marked in previous step (Diagram 5). Next, reinstall the Vortex to the front wall as described in Step 6.
9. The strap at the top of the bulkhead has been updated to include a ratchet. The ratchet and “E” clip do not come
installed and the bulkhead strap must be threaded through the ratchet. Once completed, attach the strap to each “A”
track piece and ratchet securely in place.

**For proper installation, the bulkhead must not contact the pallet stops regardless of style used.
