APPLIES TO:

This service bulletin applies to 2021 through 2022 model year, Gladiator,
Metro Star, and FC-94 model emergency response chassis cabs built
between November 10, 2020 to April 22, 2021.

CONDITION:

A/C compressor clutch connection mis-pinned

CORRECTION:

Correct pin orientation at A/C compressor connector

LABOR ALLOCATION:

1.0 Hour

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Thoroughly review entire service bulletin before starting work. If there are questions or concerns
with steps defined in this service bulletin, contact Spartan Fire, LLC. Customer & Product Support
Group.
All applicable industry safety standards must be followed when performing work identified in this
procedure.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Set park brake, ensure ignition switch is off and master switch is on.
2. Tilt cab and ensure placement of cab tilt lock bar in the cab tilt cylinder.
3. Turn Master switch off.
4. Locate A/C compressor near front of engine.
5. Verify the red wire in the chassis harness connector corresponds with the red wire on the
compressor clutch harness connector. Also, confirm the black wire in chassis harness connector
aligns with the black wire in the compressor clutch harness connector. If they match skip to
step 12.
6. Locate A/C compressor clutch connector at compressor and disconnect.
(Refer to Figure 2-1)

5. Proper de-pinning tools will be needed for the next steps. Refer to Figure 3-1

6. Remove blue secondary lock from chassis harness side connector. Refer to Figure 3-2

7. De-pin both wires by releasing the retention tab with the proper de-pinning tool.
Refer to Figure 4-1

8. After de-pinning the terminals from the connector, lift the retention tab on the terminal back
into place. Refer to figure 4-2

9. Reinsert the terminals into the correct cavities: Red in Cavity B and Black into Cavity A.
Refer to Figure 5-1

10. Reinsert the blue secondary lock.
11. Reconnect the connector. Verify the red wire in the chassis harness connector corresponds
with the red wire on the compressor clutch harness connector. Also, confirm the black wire
in chassis harness connector aligns with the black wire in the compressor clutch harness
connector. Refer to Figure 6-1

12. Operate the HVAC to ensure the air conditioning system is working properly. If it is operating
correctly, no further action is required. If HVAC is not operating correctly, contact customer
service (1-800-867-6478).
