This notice is sent to you informing you of a Field Service Campaign that may impact your vehicle.
Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC) has informed Pierce Manufacturing that some certified GHG14 DD13 engines in
Pierce firetrucks will require reprogramming.

NOTICE

 A Field Service Campaign has been issued for your Pierce Vehicle equipped
with a Detroit Diesel Engine.
 You should contact your Detroit Diesel service center to schedule an
appointment for the remedy.
 This service will be performed for you at no charge.

Why is a Service
Campaign being
conducted?

Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC) has determined that some certified GHG14 DD13
engines in Pierce firetrucks will require reprogramming if they do not meet the
following minimum software and fuel map levels.
• MCM with 4.7.0.0 software and fuel map version ZGS 002 (or higher).
• ACM with 5.57.1.0 software and fuel map version ZGS 999.

Detroit Diesel will reprogram your engine.
Reprogramming will restore functionality of the dash mounted Diesel Particulate
Filter (DPF) parked regeneration switch. This can prevent fault codes and
performance issues that may result in customer dissatisfaction.
Also, the fan clutch air supply line will be reconnected which may have been
temporarily removed prior to the availability of the 15M2 software.
Pierce has been advised that instructions for this campaign have been sent to all
local Detroit Diesel Authorized Repair Facilities.
The labor time required to perform this software update is approximately 1.2
hours.
Contact your local Detroit Diesel Authorized Repair Facility to schedule a service
appointment to reprogram your engine and complete the other tasks as part of
this Field Campaign. Detroit Diesel and Pierce anticipate that owners may
continue to place their vehicles in service until the field campaign actions can be
completed.
You may locate the closest Detroit Diesel Authorized Repair Facility by searching
online at www.detroitdiesel.com/locations/default.aspx.
Please do not take your vehicle to your Pierce Dealer as they are not authorized
or equipped to make this repair required for this campaign.

under the provisions of Detroit Diesel and this notice.
