Description
Software Update for DEF Decomposition Pipe Fault

Introduction
This is a Fix as Fail Repair
Peterbilt has determined on vehicles manufactured with a PACCAR MX-13 EPA 2013 model year 2013 or 2014
engine, that certain DEF decomposition pipes may not promote adequate DEF mixing, thereby leading to overdose
and NH3 (Ammonia) slip, which in turn can trigger fault code P3818.

Resolution
If a customer enters your dealership and is experiencing the fault code P3818 on an affected chassis, update to the
most current version of software.
Note: Decomp pipe replacement with high route exhaust is no longer required if an engine is flashed
with the most current software update.

Warranty
Through Standard Warranty (includes Extedned Warrany) and Emissions Warranty (5 years/100k miles) Peterbilt will
pay for parts plus applicable mark up and labor to update MX engine software on vehicles presented with fault code
3818.
File claims using Quick Claim E112 when flashing engines to resolve fault code P3818.
Quick Claims cannot be used when filing claims for service performed on Kenworth Vehicles. Use the long claim input
form in DWWC by selecting Draft/Offline Claims, General tab, and in the Type of Claim drop down box, select
PACCAR Engine Claim. Use the claim codes listed below AND send an e-mail to PBDiv.CS.Campaigns@PACCAR.com

Peterbilt will pay for 0.6 hours labor for download and updating the software.

Procedure
Connect vehicle to DAVIE4 and update PRS file
Update to the most current software version to resolve Fault Code P3818 on MX-13 model year 2013 and 2014 MX-13
engines.
