This service bulletin informs dealers and service managers about the new battery assembly procedure for the listed model. Additionally, new battery mount is introduced to ensure improved ventilation with greater air flowing to the battery. This bulletin is to inform you about the new battery assembly procedure for the SuperSport
950 Model Year 2021. A new battery mount is used that ensures improved ventilation with a
larger amount of air flowing to the battery.

Battery Assembly on Vehicle
1.
Remove screw M5x18 (1) and screw M5x9 with collar (2) fastening the LH cover (3).
2. Slide LH cover (3) out towards the rear side so that the 2 front teeth (4) are disengaged
from slots (5) of front subframe and the 2 teeth (6) are disengaged from slots (7) of LH
side fairing.
3. To remove the LH side fairing (8) loosen:

the 4 screws M5x12 (9)
•
the screw M5x9 (10)
•
the screw M5x18 (11) with relevant spacer (12)

4. Remove the LH side fairing by sliding out the following components in the indicated
sequence:
A. the 2 pins (17) from the relevant vibration dampers (18) on the headlight lower
protection
B. the central pin (19) from the vibration damper (14)
C. the rear pin (15) from the vibration damper (16) on the fuel tank bracket shifting the
fairing towards the rear side of the motorcycle

5. Remove the protective films from the back of the 4 adhesive pads (20) and apply them on
the battery mount (21) lined along the 2 ribs (22) as shown in the figure.
6. Install the 2 rubber blocks (23) at the position of the two holes in the battery mount (21).
7. Insert the YUASA YT7B-BS battery into the battery mount (21) from the side, aiming it as
shown in the figure.

8. Loosen the retaining screw (24) of cover (25) that protects the battery positive pole and
recover the spacer (26) and the upper plate (27).
9. Loosen the screw (28) so as to remove the lower plate (29).
WARNING
To insert the battery pack into its compartment, turn the battery positive pole
protection cover to the left.
During this operation DO NOT remove or disconnect the 30A master fuse and the
horizontal head coil cable connector secured to the cover itself.

NOTE
Check for retainer (A) on the negative cable of the motorcycle; if it is there:
- remove the tape from retainer (A)
- slide retainer (A) off the negative battery cable by working the elastic washer (B) on
the back.

5. Fit the battery unit fully home into the suitable recess.
6. Insert the lower plate (29) in the relevant seat by orienting it as shown in the figure and
tighten the M5x8 screw (28) to 5 Nm ± 10%.
7. Connect the vehicle positive cable (30) and the ABS positive cable (31) to battery positive
terminal and the negative cable (32) to the negative terminal, as shown in the figure.
8. Tighten 2 screws (33) to 2.5 Nm.

9. Position the cover (25) to protect the battery positive pole and tighten the M5x12 screw
(24) with its spacer (26) to 5 Nm ± 10%.
NOTE
Make sure to insert the upper plate (27) as shown in the figure.
Make sure that the rubber block (35) is in place on upper plate (27), NOT on the
lower plate (29).
Make sure that the rubber pad (34) is mounted on the cover (25) protecting the
battery positive pole as shown in the figure.

10. Fit the LH side fairing (8) by inserting the following components in this order:
A. pin (15) in the vibration damper (16) present on the fuel tank bracket
B. pin (19) in the vibration damper (14)
C. the 2 pins (17) in the relevant vibration dampers (18) on the headlight lower protection
NOTE
Make sure that the rubber trim (36) part no. 76414301A is in place on the tab of the
LH side fairing (8) as shown in the figure.

11. To fasten the LH side fairing (8), tighten the screws indicated below to the specified torque:
•
4 M5x12 screws (9) to 2.5 Nm ± 10%
•
1 screw M5x9 with collar (10) to 4 Nm ± 10%
•
1 M5x18 screw (11) with the relevant spacer (12) to 2.5 Nm ± 10%

12. Position the LH cover (3) by engaging the 2 front teeth (4) in the slots (5) of front
subframe and the 2 teeth (6) in the slots (7) of the LH fairing.
13. Tighten the M5x18 screw (1) to 0.5 Nm ±10% and the M5x9 screw (2) to 2.5 Nm ± 10%.
