Item 1.
Description:

Balancer Oil Cooling Jets and Crankcase Spares Kit

Models affected:

Thunderbird, Thunderbird Storm, Thunderbird Commander and Thunderbird LT

A new crankcase assembly has been introduced for the above models from engine number 713402. The new
assembly features modifications to the crankcase castings. As as result, both front and rear balancer shaft
oil cooling jets have changed from M6 to M8.
The new M8 oil cooling jets are not retrofittable and parts will continue to support the old condition M6 oil
cooling jets for models already in service. The balancer shaft oil cooling jets should be tightened as follows:
•

Old condition M6 oil cooling jets - 5 Nm

•

New condition M8 oil cooling jets - 6 Nm.

Note:
•

Models already in service need not be retightened unless the oil cooling jets have been loosened or
removed.
If loosened or removed for any reason, the oil cooling jets must be replaced.

Note:

Parts will no longer support old condition crankcases and any replacement will be the new condition.

A crankcase parts kit comprising the new crankcase assembly and balancer shaft oil cooling jets has been
released for use when replacing crankcases on the above models up to engine number 713401.

Item 2.
Description:

Motorcycle Handover - Important Information - Correct Fitting of the Seat(s) or Seat
Cowl

Models affected:

All Models

It has come to our attention that the correct method of fitting the passenger seat or seat cowl to the
motorcycle as described in the Owner’s Handbook is not being followed correctly.
We therefore ask dealer personnel responsible for handing over the motorcycle to the new owner, to follow
the instruction, Rider’s Seat or Passenger Seat (depending on model) as described in their Owner’s Handbook
to ensure the seats are secured correctly prior to the owner leaving the dealership.
During the demonstration of removal and refitting the seat(s) the dealer is required to make the owner aware
of the warnings contained within the Owner’s Handbook.
Triumph Motorcycles will therefore not consider warranty claims for seat damage caused by careless or
incorrect installation of the seats or cowls.

Description:

Rider’s Seat Fitment

Models affected:

All Tiger XR and Tiger XC Models

It has come to our attention that the rider’s seat can become damaged on the above models, if care is not
taken to correctly position the seat over the fuel tank infill panels during installation.

Caution
Take care when installing the rider’s seat. Aways ensure that the seat is correctly positioned over the fuel
tank infill panels, before attempting to engage the seat’s mounting rails.
Avoid catching the seat on the edges of the fuel tank infill panels as this can cause damage to the seat
cover.
Dealers are advised to install the rider’s seat as described in the Owner’s Handbook, noting that care should
be taken to correctly position the seat over the fuel tank infill panels before attempting to engage the seat’s
mounting rails.

During pre-delivery inspection, ensure that the seats are fitted correctly onto the motorcycle. Inspect the
seat covers for damage paying particular attention to the front and lower edges of the rider’s seat.
Triumph will not consider warranty claims for seat damage caused by careless or incorrect installation of the
seats.
Dealers are requested to pass this important information on to the customer when demonstrating the seat
removal and installation procedure during motorcycle handover.

Handlebar Clamp Fixings

The torque figure for the handlebar clamp fixings has changed to 27 Nm on the above models.

Item 5.
Description:

Front Suspension

Models affected:

Tiger XC, Tiger XCX, Tiger XCX-LRH, Tiger XCA, Tiger Explorer, Tiger Explorer XC

It has come to our attention that some customers have noticed a 'clicking' sound from the front suspension
on the above models.
Triumph acknowledges that a 'clicking' sound may be audible from the front suspension, at the point where
the suspension travel changes direction from compression to rebound. Dealers are advised that this 'clicking'
sound is produced during normal operation of the front suspension, by the opening and closing of a check
valve shim contained within the front fork damping cylinder assembly.
We would like to reassure dealers and customers that the 'clicking' sound produced by the check valve shim
does not indicate a fault with the front suspension, and that the operation and performance of the front
suspension is unaffected.
Triumph will not consider warranty claims for a 'clicking' sound produced by the damping cylinder check valve
shim, during normal operation of the front suspension.

Description:

Rear Tyre Wall Pattern

Models affected:

Tiger XR, Tiger XRX, Tiger XRX-LRH, Tiger XRT

It has come to our attention that the clarity of the moulded pattern, present on the side wall of the Metzeler
rear tyre fitted to the above models, may vary from motorcycle to motorcycle.

Dealers are advised that this variation of the aesthetic properties of the rear tyre’s side wall is not
considered to be a fault.
Triumph can confirm that the Metzeler rear tyres fitted to the above models comply fully with our
specifications and that the quality and performance of the tyres is unaffected. The tyre specification and
homologation markings provided on the side wall of the tyre are also unaffected.
Triumph will not consider warranty claims for the variation in the side wall aesthetics of the Metzeler rear
tyre fitted to the above models.
