Car USA LLC and Volvo Car of Canada Ltd (Volvo) on behalf of Volvo Car Corporation, has decided to launch Service Action S39810 on certain model year 2017 S90 vehicles. Volvo has identified that the ABS (Antilock Brake System) wiring may chafe against the front driveshaft bellow. This condition will light a yellow Electronic Stability Control, (ESC) and red (ABS) warning lamp, and a text message ?ABS/ESC temporarily off? will appear in the instrument panel. If the fault is detected as permanent, a message ?Brake system service required? will be also appear in the instrument panel.

DESCRIPTION:
Volvo Car USA LLC and Volvo Car of Canada Ltd (Volvo) on behalf of Volvo Car Corporation, has
decided to launch Service Action S39810 on certain model year 2017 S90 vehicles.
Volvo has identified that the ABS (Antilock Brake System) wiring may chafe against the front driveshaft
bellow. This condition will light a yellow Electronic Stability Control, (ESC) and red (ABS) warning
lamp, and a text message “ABS/ESC temporarily off” will appear in the instrument panel. If the fault is
detected as permanent, a message “Brake system service required” will be also appear in the instrument
panel.
SERVICE:
The corrective action is to check and if necessary adjust the wiring according to the attached instruction.
If the wiring is damaged, replace according to VIDA.

Note: The vehicle weight must be on the
wheels. A drive-on lift such as a wheel
alignment rack must be used.
With the vehicle on a flat surface
with the wheels pointing straight ahead,
measure the distance on both sides of the vehicle.
If the distance is 20mm or more, no action is needed.
If the distance is less than 20mm, the wiring needs
to be repositioned according to the following steps.
Remove the cable tie(s).
Use: Strip clamp , 983750
Adjust the wire length between the points
indicated to 210 - 215 mm.
If necessary, twist the wiring slightly before
installing to adjust the distance between
the wiring and the axle.
Confirm the distance is now 20mm or more
on both sides of the vehicle.
