INTRODUCTION

Nissan is conducting this voluntary service campaign on certain specific 2013 – 2015 LEAF
vehicles to replace the high pressure pipe and the high pressure flexible hose for the AC
system. This service will be performed at no charge for parts or labor.

IDENTIFICATION NUMBER

Nissan has assigned identification number PC421 to this campaign. This number must
appear on all communications and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign.

DEALER RESPONSIBILITY

Dealers are to repair vehicles falling within range of this campaign that enter the service
department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties, vehicles presented by
transient (tourists) owners, and vehicles in a dealer’s inventory.

Nissan Bulletins are intended for use by qualified technicians, not 'do-it-yourselfers'. Qualified technicians are
properly trained individuals who have the equipment, tools, safety instruction, and know-how to do a job
properly and safely. NOTE: If you believe that a described condition may apply to a particular vehicle, DO
NOT assume that it does. See your Nissan dealer to determine if this applies to your vehicle.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Replace the high pressure pipe and the high pressure flexible hose (see numbers 2 and
4 in Figure 1).


Refer to the Electronic Service Manual (ESM), section HA – Heater & Air
Conditioning System, for replacement information.



Use ND-OIL 11 (Exclusive use for electric compressor).

IMPORTANT:

When evacuating or recharging EV refrigerant or oil, a refrigerant recovery machine that is
used for EV ONLY and has not been exposed to fluorescent dye is preferred.


If a dedicated recovery machine is not available:
 Dedicated EV A/C hoses MUST be used.
 Any Non-EV refrigerant and/or oil MUST be recovered from the non-EV hoses
prior to hose removal from the recovery machine. Refrigerant and/or oil
MUST be recovered again when reverting back to non-EV refrigerant and oil.
 Remove, drain, and clean the oil accumulation container prior to EV work and
then again before reverting back to non-EV refrigerant and oil.

During installation of the new high pressure flexible hose and the high pressure pipe:


Remove and discard the bolt and bracket shown in Figure 2.



The clamp is not used for reassembly (see Figure 2).


