SERVICE INFORMATION
The slide door operating cables for the handles and locks for the applied vehicles listed
above are now available as service parts. Refer to SERVICE PROCEDURE starting on
page 2 for replacement procedure.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
Slide Door Operating Cables Replacement
Each slide door has four (4) cables. They operate between the slide door lock actuator and
outside handle, inside handle, and both front and rear slide door locks. There are 4
separate procedures for cable replacement, one for each cable. Refer to the procedure for
the cable being replaced.
Procedure 1
NOTE:
 Procedure 1 is to be applied along with Procedure 2-5.
 All procedures work on both slide doors.

1. Remove the slide door lower finisher by
grabbing the cup holder, and then tugging
on it.


Use a plastic trim tool as needed.

2. Remove the slide door upper finisher with
a plastic trim tool.

3. Remove the slide door front finisher.


Use a plastic trim tool as needed.

4. Remove both bolt covers, and then
remove both 10 mm bolts.


For the bolt covers, use a plastic trim
tool as needed.

5. Remove the slide door inside handle and
lock knob.


6. Replace the cable.





Refer to Procedure 2 (next page) for the slide door front lock cable.
Refer to Procedure 3 (page 6) for the slide door rear lock cable.
Refer to Procedure 4 (page 9) for the outside handle cable.
Refer to Procedure 5 (page 11) for the inside handle cable.

7. After replacing the cable(s) from one of the other procedures, install these interior
pieces in reverse order of removal.

Procedure 2 – Slide Door Front Lock Cable
Perform Procedure 2 to replace the cable connecting the slide door front lock cable to the
slide door lock actuator (actuator) after performing Procedure 1.

1. Remove the actuator bracket bolt.

2. Swing up the actuator bracket, and then
pull out the slide door front lock cable
(cable).

3. Rotate the cable wire to align with the
slot, and then pull out the cable end.

4. Unfasten the cable from the slide door
front lock (front lock).

5. Unbolt the front lock, and then remove it
from the slide door.

6. Pinch the pivot pin’s tabs with a suitable
tool, and then remove the cable from the
front lock.
7. Install the replacement cable in reverse
order of removal.
8. Finish assembling the slide door.


Procedure 3 – Slide Door Rear Lock Cable
Perform this procedure to replace the cable connecting the slide door rear lock to the
actuator after performing Procedure 1.

1. Remove the actuator bracket bolt.

2. Swing up the actuator bracket, and then
pop out the slide door rear lock cable
(cable).

3. Disconnect the blue clip holding the rod,
and then pull out the rod end.

outside handle.

5. Carefully separate the outside handle
from the slide door, and then:
a. Unfasten the gray clip, and then pull
out the cable end.
b. Pop out the cable from the outside
handle.
c. Push the cable inside the slide door.

6. Remove the bolts holding the actuator.

7. Carefully pull out the actuator from within
the slide door.

8. Pinch the pivot pin’s tabs with a suitable
tool, and then remove the cable from the
actuator.

9. Pinch or cut off the tips of the cable clips
to unfasten the cable from the slide door.

10. Unbolt the rear lock, and then remove it
from the slide door (see Figure 18).

11. Remove the E-clip, and then pull out the
cable from the rear lock (see Figure 19).
12. Pinch the pivot pin’s tabs with a suitable
tool, and then remove the cable from the
rear lock (see Figure 20).
13. Install the replacement cable in reverse
order of removal.

14. Finish assembling the slide door.


Procedure 4: Outside Handle Cable
Perform this procedure to replace the cable connecting the outside handle to the actuator
after performing Procedure 1.

1. Disconnect the blue clip holding the rod,
and then pull out the rod end.

outside handle.

from the slide door, and then:
a. Unfasten the gray clip, and then pull
out the cable end.
b. Pop out the cable from the outside

c. Push the cable inside the slide door.

4. Remove the bolts holding the actuator.

the slide door.
6. Unfasten the green clip, and then pull out
the cable end.
7. Pop out the cable from the actuator.
8. Install the replacement cable in reverse
order of removal.

9. Finish assembling the slide door.

Procedure 5: Inside Handle Cable
Perform this procedure to replace the cable operated by the inside handle and fastened to
the actuator after performing Procedure 1.

1. Disconnect the blue clip holding the rod,
and then pull out the rod end.

the cable end.

slot, and then remove it from the actuator.

10. Install the replacement cable in reverse
order of removal.

11. Finish assembling the slide door.
