REAR SEAT HEADRESTS WHEN OPENING THE SOFT TOP
APPLIED VEHICLE: 2011 - 2014 Murano CrossCabriolet (Z51)

IF YOU CONFIRM:
The skylight glass, when opening
the soft top, comes in contact with
the rear seat’s headrests (for
example, see Figure 1).


The soft top may not open
any further once the
skylight glass catches
on the headrests.
NOTE: It is normal for the
headlining to contact and
rub on the tops of the
rear headrests when
opening and closing the
soft top.

ACTION:
Adjust/lengthen the fourth bow pressure link(s).


page 2.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
NOTE: Connect a battery charger on low charge setting or have the engine idling while
operating the soft top.
1. Open the soft top as shown in Figure 2.
2. Locate the pressure links on both sides (see Figure 2).
3. Measure the distance of both pressure links where shown in Figure 3.


Write down these measurements. They may be referenced later in this procedure.
NOTE: Measurements between pressure links may differ slightly. This is OK.

4. Using two wrenches, hold the adjusting nut in place while loosening the
lock nuts, one at a time.


Loosen both lock nuts on both pressure links.
NOTE: There is a left hand threaded lock nut and a right hand threaded
lock nut on each pressure link.

5. Lengthen the measurement: Turn the adjusting nut ½ turn clockwise
on each pressure link.


If only one side is affected, only make a pressure link adjustment
on the affected side.
NOTE: The side not affected may need to be adjusted after making
an adjustment to the affected side.

6. Close the soft top, and then attempt to completely open the soft top normally.
NOTE: It’s OK to leave the lock nuts loose when closing the soft top.
7. If the soft top opens normally (the skylight glass does not contact and/or catch on the
headrests), fully close the soft top.
NOTE: It is normal for the headlining to contact and rub on the tops of the
rear headrests when opening and closing the soft top.
8. If the soft top opens and closes normally, open the soft top to access the lock nuts, and
then tighten them.


Repairs/adjustments are now complete.

9. If the skylight glass still contacts and/or catches on the rear headrests, open the
soft top to access the adjusting nuts.
10. Repeat steps 5-7 until top fit is OK, and then perform step 8 to complete the repair.


Make sure to turn the adjusting nuts no more than ½ turn per repeat adjustment.
NOTE: Do not adjust/lengthen pressure links greater than 40 mm.
