Condition

Important: If the customer did not bring their vehicle in for this concern, DO NOT proceed with this EI.
Some customers may comment on Service Engine Soon Lamp illuminated on Driver Information Center (DIC).
Technicians may find DTC P208B set.
The root cause of the above condition is a software issue with the K115 Reductant Control Module. GM
Engineering is working to develop/validate a field fix for the above condition. In most cases of DTC P208B,
reductant tank and/or reductant control module replacement will not correct the condition.

Cause

Correction
If you encounter a vehicle with the DTC P208B in history (Service Engine Soon Lamp illuminated or not illuminated):
1.

Inspect the reductant system for any leaks, unseated connectors, etc

2.

Perform a Reductant System Tamper Warning Service Bay Test

3.

If the tamper test initially fails, repeat the test. If the test passes, release vehicle to customer. If the Reductant System Tamper Warning Service Bay Test
fails two times, contact the engineer listed below
If you encounter a vehicle with the DTC P208B currently active (displaying the “Service Emission System” DIC message and Service Engine Soon Lamp
illuminated):

Perform two (2) Reductant Pump tests to ensure that:

The pump is rotating at 1304 +/- 200 rpm
It can build reductant pressure greater than 300kPa.

If the pump does not operate as described, contact the engineer listed below. If the pump operates as described, go to step 2., then proceed with step 3.
