Dear Altec Owner,
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act and the Canada
Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Altec Industries, Inc. has been notified that a condition exists based upon a notification from the Original
Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the vehicle. This relates to the operation or customer satisfaction of the
unit when equipped with an Altec aerial device or equipment.
Refer to attached documentation that follows this letter. If you have additional questions, please contact your
Altec Account Manager. You may also contact the OEM at the provided contact information in the attached
recall notice.
If you had this repair performed before you received this letter, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for
the cost of obtaining a pre-notification remedy of the problem associated with this recall. If you have sold or
retired the unit please call Altec at 1-877-GO-ALTEC (1-877-462-5832) so the records may be changed.
If you have leased this equipment to another person or company, you are required by Federal Law to forward a
copy of this notice to the lessee by first class mail within ten (10) days of the receipt of this notice.
We appreciate your assistance in following this action in the interest of your safety and continued satisfaction
with Altec products.

Cummins C2302 - Fuel Heater Option Exemption
Altec is committed to providing our customers reliable products from initial delivery throughout
the useful life of the machine.
You are receiving this notice because your vehicle was either delivered with a heater plug in
place of the fuel heater, or your vehicle is subject to the recently-released Safety Campaign
#C2302 “B6.7 Engine-Mounted Fuel Heater Safety Campaign,” (Altec Campaign CSR 510)
which requires removal or disablement of the fuel heater.
Cummins is developing for installation at a future date a new fuel heating solution for customers
that require it for cold weather operation. Cummins has not determined the availability date of
the new fuel heating solution. Details are included in the attached Cummins communication.
If you have additional questions or concerns after reviewing the attached Cummins communication, please reach out to your local Cummins representative or 1-800-CUMMINS.
Altec is not able to complete this repair or answer questions regarding this safety campaign. All
work must be completed by an authorized Cummins Distributor or authorized warranty dealer.

Notice of Future B6.7 Engine-Mounted Fuel Heater
Replacement Option

Valued Cummins Customer,
You are receiving this notice because your vehicle was either delivered with a heater plug in place of
the fuel heater, or your vehicle is subject to the recently-released Safety Campaign #C2302 “B6.7
Engine-Mounted Fuel Heater Safety Campaign,” which requires removal or disablement of the fuel
heater.
Cummins is developing for installation at a future date a new fuel heating solution for customers that
require it for cold weather operation. While Cummins has not determined the availability date of the new
fuel heating solution, it is not expected to be available for installation before the winter of 2020/2021. In
an effort to minimize future disruption and put a heated solution back only into applications that will see
a true benefit from its inclusion, Cummins is offering to those customers that do not require a fuel
heater solution the option to be excluded from the future replacement action.
To determine whether or not you require the new fuel heating solution, Cummins offers the following
considerations. If you were to have additional questions or concerns after reviewing the guidelines
below, please reach out to your local Cummins representative or 1-800-CUMMINS.
1. Fuels for Cummins Engines Service Bulletin 3379001
• For operating temperatures above 20°F, Cummins recommends Diesel #2.
• For operating temperatures colder than 20°F, Cummins recommends Diesel #2 blended
with Diesel #1 (also known as “winter fuel”). Winter fuel provides up to a 20°F improvement
in pour point and is available at most filling stations from September through March.
2. Cummins also endorses Power Service Diesel Fuel Supplement for operation in cold weather
conditions. This supplement provides a 23°F average improvement to the pour point and can
provide an average of 19°F improvement in the cold filter plugging point.
3. Heater benefits
• The heater in the on-engine fuel water separator typically provides a 3-5°F increase to the
temperature. Note that this increase is in addition to the 20°F capability improvement from
using winter fuel or a capable fuel supplement where multiple heating solutions are used.
4. Other fuel considerations in cold weather
• Condensation in the vehicle fuel tank(s) occur when the air in the fuel tank(s) cools down
during a shutdown period. This moisture can be reduced by filling the vehicle fuel tank
before engine shutdown to reduce the air space above the fuel.

Replacement Option
If, after reviewing this information, you determine you require future installation of the new heated
solution, there is nothing further for you to do at this time to be part of the future heater replacement
action. If you decide one or more of your vehicles does not require a fuel heater, Cummins will provide
a $50.00 USD refund per vehicle and will remove your ESN(s) from the future campaign action. To
notify Cummins that you do not wish to be part of the future action, owners or other authorized
representatives knowledgeable about the upkeep and operation of vehicles equipped with the Cummins
Filtration Heated On-Engine Fuel Water Separator should complete the enclosed form and submit it to
an authorized Cummins service location. Once processed, owners will receive $50 per vehicle in the
form of a refund from the Cummins authorized service location.

I certify that I am knowledgeable about the upkeep and operating requirements for the vehicles/engines
identified below and have reviewed the above information about the Cummins Filtration On-Engine Fuel
Water Separator Heater (part number 5361659) and alternate fuel heating options. Being so informed, I
do not wish to receive the future fuel heater replacement and hereby release Cummins from any followup heater replacement action in exchange for the good and valuable consideration of a $50.00 USD
refund per applicable vehicle, the receipt of which consideration is hereby acknowledged. I understand
that my vehicle will no longer be equipped with a fuel heater, either through removal or disablement as
part of Safety Campaign C2302 or because it was delivered with a fuel heater plug, and that this release
shall be binding upon my successors in interest.
