Overview

So ware optimizations are now available for various control units of the Taycan.
The so ware update includes improvements for Porsche Communication Management (PCM), new
intelligent charging functions and enhancements to the Porsche Connect functionality and more.
Please arrange for this measure to be carried out on the a ected vehicles immediately. Customers will
receive initial noti cation of this update availability on Monday 3/29/21 by email.

PCNA will contact customers directly beginning 3/29 via Email noti cation to schedule an
appointment for this update. When scheduling, please remember to request that customers bring along
their Porsche Mobile Charger Connect, so that can be updated as well via parallel Workshop Campaign
WMA7.

Additional steps to be carried out a er the update

A er carrying out campaign WMA5, please inform customers that Infotainment updates are available
via their central computer (PCM) and provide them with any help and support they need during
installation.
These updates are only available if the customer has logged into the vehicle using their main user
credentials (Porsche ID). Several updates are available depending on equipment and these must be
installed one a er the other in successive steps. Installation can take several minutes per update. New
functions can only be used when all updates have been completed and the vehicle has established bus
idle for at least 15 minutes.
When the instrument cluster and central computer are reprogrammed, the individual settings
previously set by the customer may be lost and reset to the default values.
A er carrying out the campaign, please inform customers that personal settings they have set in the
instrument cluster and central display of the central computer will have to be set again and provide
them with any help and support they need for setting the relevant options.
Example settings a ected:
Individual settings for tubes 1 to 3 of the instrument cluster as well as the extended map view or
reduced view of the instrument cluster
Individual settings of the head-up display (HUD)
Selected functions of individual tubes in the instrument cluster, e.g. auto zoom, 3D map and
satellite map
Arrangement of tiles in the home screen and MyScreen on the central display
Individual seat, exterior mirror and ergonomic settings
Air conditioning settings (i.e. ventilation and air quality)
Privacy settings
Frequency setting of the garage door opener (Homelink)

Attached to this post you will nd a step by step checklist that can be used a er the update is
performed with customers to recon gure all necessary settings, and to activate all functionalities.

If a customer prefers to recon gure their settings outside of the dealer or on their own a er the update
is performed, there is an alternative reduced checklist that can be printed and provided to customers
in order to more easily guide them through the process.

Detailed information about the so ware update

During this campaign, the so ware version VR12.1.1 will be installed on the a ected vehicles. The
prerequisite for this is that the previous so ware version VR8.7 is installed on the vehicle.
In order to ensure that the so ware updates are installed in the correct order on all vehicles - regardless
of whether or not so ware version VR8.7 is already installed - campaigns WLG2 and WLG6 for
programming so ware version VR8.7 were completed with the introduction of this campaign WMA5
and the corresponding programming scopes were transferred to this campaign.
Depending on whether or not the previous so ware version VR8.7 must rst be programmed on the
relevant vehicle as a prerequisite for the subsequent programming of so ware version VR12.1.1, the
vehicles were assigned to the required campaign scope. Before carrying out the campaign, the
campaign scope assigned to the relevant vehicle must therefore be checked and carried out
accordingly.
The total update duration is up to 9 hours and is
divided into 4 sequences:
-Sequence 1: approx. 125 minutes
-Sequence 2: approx. 120 minutes
-Sequence 3: approx. 130 minutes
-Sequence 4: approx. 60 minutes

*The PCM control unit so ware update is performed using a USB storage medium. The so ware
version that is speci c to each region must be downloaded using the so ware tool PiUS (Porsche
integrated Update Service) and must be installed on a blank USB storage medium.
Pay particular attention to the following:
For this PCM so ware update, the USB storage medium USB Type A+C 32 GB with the part
number V04014999WW000 must be used.
To use the so ware tool, one blank or re-writable USB storage medium is required for each
individual so ware update.
The so ware available in PiUS must only be used in accordance with the instructions provided in a
Technical Information published for this purpose.
You will nd further information on how to install and use the PiUS so ware tool in the PPN under
PiUS (Porsche integrated Update Service) goes live.
