Summary
Some 2016-2019 Police Interceptor Sedan vehicles equipped with a 3.7L twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0420 and/or P0430. This may be due to a damaged catalytic converter. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the catalytic converter and reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM).

Summary
This article supersedes TSB 19-2366 to update the labor operation and warranty status.
Issue: Some 2016-2019 Police Interceptor Sedan vehicles equipped with a 3.7L twin independent
variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with
diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0420 and/or P0430. This may be due to a damaged catalytic converter.
To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the catalytic converter and reprogram the
powertrain control module (PCM).
Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the
following criteria:
• 2016-2019 Police Interceptor Sedan
• 3.7L Ti-VCT engine
• Exhibits an illuminated MIL with DTCs P0420 and/or P0430 stored in the PCM
NOTE: Part quantity refers to the number of that service part number required, which may be

Service Procedure
For repairs covered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, completion of the procedure outlined in
this TSB does not require obtaining Prior Approval or completion of a Cost Cap.
1. Replace the affected catalytic converter per the DTC. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 30900.
2. Reprogram the PCM using the latest software level of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool.
NOTE: Advise the customer that this vehicle is equipped with an adaptive transmission shift
strategy which allows the vehicle's computer to learn the transmission's unique parameters and
improve shift quality. When the adaptive strategy is reset, the computer will begin a relearning
process. This relearning process may result in firmer than normal upshifts and downshifts for
several days.
