Summary
Laydon Composites developed two air deflectors for the COE and Conventional cabs. Design was in conjunction with Hino USA and Hino Canada. This designs reduce aerodynamic drag and improves fuel economy. Hino Japan had the final say on 3 different shapes that were designed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) electing to chose the most fuel efficient.

Emergency Orders
All orders are to be placed through the Hino Dealer Connect System (DCS). For special orders or for customer
support contact Supplier directly via phone number.
Enter orders in DCS Screen DC202 under Sales Type “S”. All direct ship (DS Orders) items will be shipped from a
local Supplier PDC.
Emergency orders (EM) may be entered into DCS screen DC202 as a Sales Type “E” or "V". All emergency orders will
be processed with a “rush” order. Freight and Handling fees will be identified on the Hino invoice.
Minimum Order
There is no minimum order requirement on emergency or stock orders.

Shipments within the Continental
United States are shipped freight pre-paid & added to the invoice for all orders. All
orders are shipped from Oakville, Ontario unless otherwise specified. All orders will be shipped via the most efficient
method. In a effort to reduce freight costs to the dealer & end customer, Air deflectors are shipped direct to the dealer

from LCL (rather than shipping to the Hino PDC & then shipping to the Hino Dealership which would add costs). To

Stock orders of 28+ air deflectors will ship free freight (Laydon covers costs). Shipped to one location. All stock orders

TOOLS REQUIRED:
50/50 ALCOHOL/WATER, LINT FREE CLOTH, TORX T-40 DRIVE, LOCTITE 262 or
EQUIVALENT, 13mm WRENCH, 13mm TORQUE WRENCH [13 FT-LBS (17.6Nm)]
PROCEDURE:
1. CAB ROOF AND DEFLECTOR SHOULD BE ASSEMBLED IN A CLEAN
ENVIRONMENT WITH TEMPERATURE BETWEEN 60 F AND 90 F FOR OPTIMUM
INSTALLATION.
2. CLEAN ENTIRE ROOF AREA OF DIRT, GREASE AND WAX. THOROUGHLY
CLEAN THE ROOF MOUNTING POINT AREAS WITH A SOLUTION OF ONE PART
ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL AND ONE PART WATER. THOROUGHLY DRY THE
INSTALLATION AREA USING A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH.
3. REMOVE EXISTING (8) TORX SCREWS FROM ROOF MOUNT HOLES AND
DISGARD.
4. MOUNT (4) PROTECTIVE FILM PADS (ITEM #1)OVER ROOF MOUNTING HOLES.
NOTE THE PAD HOLES ARE CLOSER TO ONE EDGE. MOUNT THE SHORT EDGE
TOWARDS THE OUTSIDE CAB FACE. ALIGN PAD HOLES WITH MOUNTING HOLES.

5. PLACE A SMALL AMOUNT OF LOCTITE 262(or EQUIVALENT) ONTO THE THREAD OF
A M8 HEX BOLT. PLACE REAR BRACKET (ITEM #2 LEFT HAND OR #3 RIGHT HAND)
OVER PROTECTIVE FILM PAD AND HAND TIGHTEN M8 HEX BOLT AND M8 WASHER
TO THE WELDNUT IN THE CAB ROOF. REPEAT FOR THE OTHER 3 FASTENING POINTS
SECURING BRACKETS TO THE CAB. TIGHTEN ALL HEX BOLTS TO 13 FT-LBS (17.6 Nm).

6. PLACE DEFLECTOR ASSEMBLY ONTO CAB, ALIGNING FRONT BRACKET HOLES (BOTH
SIDES) WITH WELDNUTS ON ROOF. PLACE A SMALL AMOUNT OF LOCTITE 262(or
EQUIVALENT) ONTO THE THREAD OF A M8 HEX BOLT AND HAND TIGHTEN M8 HEX BOLT
AND M8 WASHER TO THE WELDNUT IN THE CAB ROOF. REPEAT FOR THE OTHER (3)
FASTENING POINTS SECURING BRACKETS TO THE CAB.
7. ATTACH DEFLECTOR ASSEMBLY TO REAR CAB MOUNTED BRACKETS USING (1) M8
HEX BOLT, (2) M8 WASHERS AND (1) M8 NYLOCK NUT PER CONNECTION POINT. HAND
TIGHTEN IN (4) PLACES.
8. ALIGN DEFLECTOR ON CAB SO THAT IT IS CENTRED FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. ENSURING
AT THE FRONT THAT THERE IS EQUAL CLEARANCE AROUND THE LIGHTS, AND AT THE
REAR THAT THERE IS AN EQUAL AMOUNT OF REAR BRACKET EXPOSED.
9. ONCE THIS IS DONE, TIGHTEN ALL HEX BOLTS TO 13 FT-LBS (17.6 Nm).

Torque wrench (13 ft-lbs)
Procedure:
1. Cab roof and deflector should be assembled in a clean environment with a temperature
between 60°F and 90°F for optimum installation.
2. Clean entire roof area of dirt, grease and wax. Thoroughly clean the roof mounting point area
with a solution of one part isopropyl alcohol and one part water. Thoroughly dry the installation
area using a clean lint free cloth.
3. Remove existing torx(8) screws from roof mount holes and discard.
4. Line the outside perimeter with painter’s tape to protect the paint on the roof of the cab.
5. Mount protective film (4) pads (item # 1) over roof mounting holes. Note the pad holes are
closer to one edge. Mount the short edge towards the outside cab face. Align pad holes with
mounting holes.

6. Remove lower mounting brackets from the box. Identify the front and rear lower mounting
brackets and align them within their designated areas.

7. Place a small amount of silicone (or equivalent) onto the tread of a 10mm hex bolt (1.25 x
25mm). Thread the bolt, along with a 10mm washer, through the bracket and into the roof
threaded weld nut. Hand-tighten hex bolt just enough to allow bracket movement for adjustment.
Repeat for the other seven fastening points.

At this stage, all 4 lower mounting brackets should be attached to the roof of the cab, and all
bolts should be hand tightened. The will lower mounting brackets should be in the following
position:

8. Align the air deflector assembly with the lower mounting brackets (The air deflector assembly
should already be assembled with 4 upper mounting brackets).
The front upper mounting brackets have guide pins in their centers, facing downward. When the
guide pins on the right and left upper mounting brackets slide into the slots of the right and left
front lower mounting brackets, this means the roof and deflector assembly are in alignment.

The center pin on the left and right, front upper mounting brackets must slide into the center
slots of the left and right, front lower mounting brackets.
9. After applying silicone inside of the weld nuts, start assembling the front mounting brackets
first (left and right), starting with the holes closest to the front of the cab. Assemble the Hex Bolt
M10 x 1.5 x 30mm, SS, Fender Washer 10mm ID 25mm OD, SS and Lock Washer 10mm, SS.
The first bolt on each side should be aligned and threaded at the same time.
The socket and extension must be inserted through the gap near the middle of the deflector,
with the bolt positioned in the socket.
Then, slide the socket and bolt into

10. Once all of brackets are assembled, complete the mating process by torqueing all 8 bolts,
with the torque wrench, to 13 ft-lbs.
11. Use a 17mm open-ended wrench to torque down the roof bolts.
The installation of the Hino Conventional NAPS Air Deflector is now complete. This assembly
should look like the pictures below.
