SITUATION

The air duct cover (fender mounted) may be loose or missing.
CAUSE

Prolonged high-speed driving can cause movements of the fender, causing the air duct to become loose.
CORRECTION

Replace the air duct cover along with air duct. Apply additional adhesive.
PROCEDURE

Note: Completely read these instructions before beginning. The adhesive application process must be

completed in approximately 7 minutes from start to finish due to its fast curing characteristics. Ensure all

materials are available before beginning.

For affected vehicles, this procedure should be followed on both sides.

1. Clean the fender in the area of the air duct mounting using a lint free cloth and cleaner R2 P/N 83 19 0 417 324.

Allow at least 2 minutes for the cleaner to dry.

2. Using adhesive tape, secure the new air duct and air duct cover as shown below.

3. Apply window glass adhesive P/N 83 19 2 289 180 to positions 1, 2, and 3 shown below

Note: The adhesive at position 3 will be used to bond the air duct cover to the fender. See step 4 for

additional instructions for this position.
4. Ensure the adhesive applied at position 3 is thick enough to extend outwards 5mm beyond the

clip(4) shown below. This is to ensure adequate bonding to the fender.

5. Carefully position the air duct and air duct cover onto the fender. Ensure that all 8 clips of the air

duct engage the fender for a secure fit.

6. After 3 hours, the adhesive tape can be removed. Allow 24 hours of curing time before washing the

vehicle.

Windshield adhesive repair kit (P/N 83 19 2 289 180) has a very limited shelf life after it is opened, if only

one (1) vehicle will have this repair performed and no other vehicles currently in the workshop will also

require this adhesive to perform a different repair, then claim the windshield adhesive repair kit part number

at a quantity of one.

For all multi-vehicle repairs that require this windshield adhesive, claim this material in sublet for the

calculated amount for one (1) portion of the kit as determined by the total number of vehicles being repaired.

Enter this material cost in sublet and itemize the amount on the repair order and in claim comment section.
