Update Transmission Control Unit Software

This is to notify you of a Service Campaign launch regarding updating the transmission control unit software on 369 Model Year ("MY") 2020
217 (S-Class) vehicles. Affected VINs will be flagged in VMI as "OPEN" on January 29, 2021.

Background
Issue

Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz, has determined that on certain Model
Year (“MY”) 2020 S-Class (217 Platform), the transmission control unit software does not correspond to
the current production specifications.

What We’re Doing

MBUSA will conduct a Service Campaign. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will update the
transmission control unit software.

Model Year 2020
Perform SCN coding in the fully integrated transmission control (VGS) control unit

Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz, has determined that on certain
Model Year (“MY”) 2020 S-Class (217 Platform), the transmission control unit software does not
correspond to the current production specifications. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will update the
software as necessary.
Prior to performing this Service Campaign:

Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously
repaired. Always Check VMI for any open campaigns, and perform accordingly.

•

Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as
described.

Approximately 369 vehicle is affected.

2. Perform SCN coding in the VGSNAG3 control unit.
To do this, select menu item "Quick test view
