This bulletin supersedes Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 24-001-21, date of issue January
27, 2021, which should be removed from your files. All revisions are highlighted with
**asterisks** and include a LOP correction.
This Technical Service Bulletin has also been released as a Rapid Response Transmittal
(RRT) 21-020, date of issue January 27, 2021. All applicable Sold and Un-Sold RRT VINs have
been loaded. To verify this RRT service action is applicable to the vehicle, use VIP or
perform a VIN search in DealerCONNECT/Service Library. All repairs are reimbursable within
the provisions of warranty. This RRT will expire 18 months after the date of issue.
SUBJECT:
Air Conditioning Line Crimp Failure
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves inspecting the A/C compressor suction and discharge lines for leaks and
replacing any line that’s leaking.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries: LATAM.
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or after July 22, 2020 (MDH 0722XX) and on
or before September 26, 2020 (MDH 0926XX) equipped with 2.0L I4 Turbo Diesel
Engine W/ESS (Sales Code EBT).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may describe the following:
• The air conditioning is inoperable.
DIAGNOSIS:
If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the Diagnosis Procedure. This
RRT only applies to vehicles on the RRT VIN list.
1. Open the hood.
2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor
(IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
3. If equipped, remove the belly pan. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in
DealerConnect> Service Library under: Service Info>13 - Frame and Bumpers/Under Body
Protection/Belly Pan/Removal. If not equipped, proceed to Step 4.

4. Using a black or white light, check the compressor suction and discharge line quick couplings
and pipe clamps for leaks (Fig. 1) . Refer to the detailed service procedures available in
DealerConnect> Service Library under: Service Info>24 - Heating and Air Conditioning /
Plumbing / Diagnosis and Testing.

5. Was the connection of the hose A/C discharge line (flexible pipe) leaking?
• YES>>> Proceed to Step 1 of the Repair Procedure.
• NO>>> Proceed to Step 6.
6. Was the connection of the hose A/C suction line (flexible pipe) leaking?
• YES>>> Proceed to Step 2 of the Repair Procedure.
• NO>>> This bulletin has been completed. Use inspection LOP (24-45-25-90) to close the
active RRT.

NOTE:
• Only replace the A/C lines that are leaking. Do not replace all A/C lines.
• Replacement of the refrigerant line seals is required anytime a refrigerant line is
disconnected (new A/C lines come with new seals). Failure to replace the rubber Oring
seals may result in a refrigerant system leak.
• Lubricate NEW seals with clean refrigerant oil and install them onto the open refrigerant
line fittings. Use only the specified seals as they are made of a special material for the
system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the
vehicle.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Replace the A/C Discharge line (flexible pipe) (Fig. 2) . Refer to the detailed service procedures
available in DealerConnect> Service Library under: Service Info>24 - Heating and Air
Conditioning/Plumbing/Line, A/C Discharge/Removal and Installation.

2. Replace the A/C Suction line (flexible pipe) (Fig. 2) . Refer to the detailed service procedures
available in DealerConnect> Service Library under: Service Info>24 - Heating and Air
Conditioning/Plumbing/Line, A/C Suction/Removal and Installation. Proceed to the next step.
3. Replace the A/C Suction and Discharge jumper (rigid pipe) (Fig. 2) . Refer to the detailed
service procedures available in DealerConnect> Service Library under: Service Info>24 Heating
and Air Conditioning/Plumbing/Assembly, A/C Suction and Discharge/Removal and Installation.
Proceed to the next step.
4. If equipped, install the belly pan. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in
DealerConnect> Service Library under: Service Info>13 - Frame and Bumpers/Under Body
Protection/Belly Pan/Installation. If not equipped, proceed to Step 5.
5. Close the hood.
