Have a 2019 Western Star with a DD13 and have code 520342-17. There is no trouble shooting in Diagnostic

link or in PSL. Set a request in on it and was instructed to do three ADS self check s and send in log file. Has

anyone else run into this code and if so where did you find the trouble shooting. Thanks in advance

They might need your log file to develop trouble shooting.

With nothing else to go on other than "DEF pump speed high", I would think the pump is sucking in air

upstream or leaking DEF down stream. How is your DEF pressure?

This one we had come back 3 times. With CSC support. First time got a RS supply kit (to replace all DEF

filters and screens), second time flashed software of PTECUs and third time replaced DEF pump.

But there wasn't any troubleshooting, I think we just went off what tech support was telling us the whole time.

Yes it is a different code and different emission level.

What I'm referring to is the description similarity.

Description
This Code Sets When the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)

Pump Speed is Higher than Normal For a Given DEF

Pressure
FYI...The code 4374/0 on this unit was caused by a cracked (faulty) DEF tank

header, as it was sucking air. DEF header was replaced, code was cleared and the

truck was back on the road.

This unit came in 2 days prior to this and had a different code and trouble shooting led us to install the def

pump kit. Started a case file and had to log three ADS self test and send in then was notified to replace def

pump and release truck. I did ask in the email how do we go about trouble shooting this and di not get an

answer

Had one come in with same issue. Couldn't find any t/s on this code. Called CSC and if I remember correctly,

it was if the pump cannot get to 140 psi, they had us put a dosing valve on it. And that solved the issue. I'm

assuming it was something with the pressure sensor.

I had a New Cascadia with a DD15 today with the same code. There is still not any published t/s for code that

I have found. Unit is HU5556. Def pump psi was 145 with 2500 rpm pump speed. Installed mechanical gauge

in line with dosing unit. Mechanical gauge is reading the same as the pressure sensor. I found that as I ran the

ads self check a few times the def pump vents were starting to show signs of moisture. Replaced def pump and

code went inactive.

Original complaint was SPN 3510/3 for ACM sensor supply 2 short to battery. This is advanced

troubleshooting. I followed it out to replace ACM. I went through all the programming, etc. put it outside in

regen and SPN 4334/4 for DEF dosing valve failed low. Followed this out to replace DEF dosing unit. Put it

outside again for regen. SPN 3510/3 came back active. Opened CSC case and they told me to replace the

ACM 120 pin harness and perform SCR-ADS test. After I replaced the the 120 pin harness, all codes were

inactive. GREAT!!!

I did the SCR-ADS test and that is when SPN 520342/17 came active. I am not able to clear it, the CEL and

MIL are on. As everybody said, this code is not in MD or HD GHG17 troubleshooting, not in DL, not in PSL.

I replied back to CSC and was told to check the DEF intake side for restrictions and if OK, replace the DEF

pump. Straight up, no troubleshooting other than check for suction restrictions. I replaced the DEF pump

complete, ran SCR-ADS test and code went "previously active" and I was able to clear the MIL.

I would say I was lucky to already have a CSC case open with all of the other stuff going on. I guess if I see

this again, I am going to get the blessing from CSC, but the DEF pump made the repair

Just pulled in a unit with same code. Driver stated he had ran unit almost completely dry of def. Unit threw

closed loop and conversion efficiency codes not long after this code. Since I did not find anything on the

original code I am treating it the same as 4363/17 nox conversion efficiency . The trouble shooting for it runs

through def quantity testing also so if the pump does have a problem it should show up during the trouble

shooting.

I had this code happen to me yesterday. Had no other related emissions codes at all only this 520342/17.

Called CSC they told me to check suction side for any leaks/blockages, if no leaks replace DEF Pump run def

pump prime routine and x3 ads self checks, if all checks pass release truck.

It is strange, when I run the ads self checks before I replaced the pump pressures were 135-145psi and

1100-1300rpm during plausibility check? When I ran the tests after with the new pump the graphs were

identical.

Code only seemed to start happening after recall D20M8 was released (I've had this code x3 on x3 different

trucks all happened not long after completing that recall
