Summary
Air Temperature will not change. Some customers may complain that the air temperature from the fair conditioner will not change with the air temperature control knob, and may be accompanied by some rattle noise from behind the dash board. This concern may be caused by the temperature control link being pulled out of the HVAC housing or becoming disengaged due to insufficient link stiffness. To correct the problem, the temperature control link has been modified. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair as follow documents provided.

DESCRIPTION
Some customers may complain that the air temperature from the air conditioner will not change with the air temperature control knob, and may be accompanied by some rattle noise from behind the dash board. This concern
may be caused by the temperature control link being pulled out of the HVAC housing or becoming disengaged
due to insufficient link stiffness. To correct the problem, the temperature control link has been modified.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the following parts:
a. Glove compartment (see GLOVE COMPARTMENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION)
b. Side wall (see SIDE WALL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION)
c. Dashboard under cover (see DASHBOARD UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION)
4. Check that the MIX LINK (Air mix link/Temperature control link) (A) is properly connected to the MIX DOOR
CRANK (B) and works while rotating the temperature control knob.

If it works, this Service Bulletin does not apply. Refer to the instructions on MS3 online for troubleshooting
and repair.
If the MIX LINK is detached or disengaged from the MIX DOOR CRANK, proceed to the next step.
5. Check if the MIX LINK has been replaced in the past.
• If the MIX LINK has been replaced in the past, the hole on the housing may be damaged during the previous repair. Replace the A/C unit (see A/C UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
• If the MIX LINK has never been replaced in the past, proceed to the next step, replace the MIX LINK with
a modified one according to the following steps.
a. Set the temperature dial to Max Hot.

b. Remove screws (A) at wire clamps (B) for mode wire (C) and air mix wire (D).
c. Press the tab (A) down, then slide the wire (B) off the link (C).
NOTE: If the MIX LINK has already been detached, proceed to step f.
d. Insert a screw driver (A) between the rib (B) on the housing and the flange (C) of the MIX LINK.

e. Gently twist the screw driver (A) counterclockwise to unlock the MIX LINK shaft (B) from the hole (C).
NOTE: Gently unlock and remove the MIX LINK shaft from the hole, being careful not to damage the
hole at the housing. A damaged hole may result in recurrence of the concern. If a damage is
found at the hole, replace the A/C unit (see A/C UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
f. Remove the MIX LINK.
g. Remove the screw (A), then the airflow mode main link (B).
h. Install the modified MIX LINK and MIX DOOR CRANK.
NOTE: Transfer grease from the removed parts to the new ones.
i.
Make sure that the MIX LINK is fitted in the groove of the MIX DOOR CRANK and will not come out
with movement.

6. Install the parts in the reverse order.
7. Verify repair.
