2008-2015 NAPS ECU Recovery after programming failure

Condition:

If the ECU programming is interrupted for any reason during the programming process, the software in the ECU will

appear to be lost, the module will be unresponsive and the truck will not start. The procedure below will recover the ECU

and restore the engine ECU software.

Repair Procedure:

1. Ensure the DX2 is updated to the latest

Version. At Least Version 1.1.14.11 or

above.
2. Select “Reprogramming”, “600

Series”, “Engine (J Series)” from the

drop down menu and OK. A dialog

box will pop up that indicates “No

RPR file for VIN exists”.

Select “OK”.

3. If “Blank ECU” is indicated proceed to

the next step.

If a Software P/N exists the ECU does not

need to be recovered.
4. Select “File”, “Special Working”,

“Download Repro file” from the

upper menu bar.
5. Input the VIN into the pop up

window, select “ECU Program

update” from the drop down menu

and select “Download”.

6. When the file download is

complete select “OK”.
7. Make sure “Select File” button is

highlighted and select “Browse”.
8. DX2 should navigate to the correct

location of the RPR file; select the

correct VIN and “Open”.

The file should be located in the

folder referenced below.

9. Verify the correct file is selected,

the VIN number and the Engine

number are correct for the vehicle.

If OK, select “Next”. If the incorrect

file was selected select “Cancel” and

restart the procedure.
10. Verify that the Engine Number in

the “rpr file set value” column

matches the “Set Value from ECU”

column engine number. Select

“Write to ECU”.
11. Follow the prompts as directed

until the ECU programming is

complete than select “Finish”.

Verify that the ECU software

number is present and the unit

starts and runs. Check and erase any

fault codes that may have set during

programming.
