16MY Conv. – False P2148, P2151, P026C, P026D DTC Set in the Engine ECU
OVERVIEW
1. P2148 / P2151 (Malfunction of injector solenoid valve drive system common 1/2, +B circuit)
A subject vehicle may exhibit an illuminated check engine lamp with DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) P2148
and/or P2151. The engine ECU software may falsely detect an issue and record these DTC’s in the engine ECU.
Revised engine ECU software has been made available to prevent this false detection. If DTC P2148 and/or
P2151 are recorded in the engine ECU, reprogram the ECU to the software level listed in this bulletin.
2. P026C / P026D (Malfunction of all injector (#1 - #6) Injection quantity and timing)
A subject vehicle may exhibit an illuminated check engine lamp with DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) P026C
and/or P026D. The engine ECU software may falsely detect an issue and record these DTC’s in the engine ECU.
Revised engine ECU software has been made available to prevent this false detection. If DTC P026C and/or
P026D are recorded in the engine ECU, reprogram the ECU to the software level listed in this bulletin.

SUBJECT VEHICLES
2016 model year Hino Conventional trucks equipped with a J08 engine.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Connect a battery charger to the vehicle and your laptop to maintain a proper state of charge during the

reprogramming sequence.
2. Verify that the DXII has software version 1.1.15.7 or later.

3. Turn the starter switch to the “ON” position. Update the Engine ECU to the latest software level using the
Hino Diagnostic eXplorer II (Hino DX2). Refer to the following table for the appropriate software part number
for the application.

FINAL INSPECTION:
1. To complete this software update procedure, review the TSB and confirm the following:
 When reprogramming the Engine ECU, DTC’s may have inadvertently been set in other control
modules. Using the Hino DX2, ensure all codes have been cleared from all modules prior to
releasing the truck back to the customer.

NOTE: This repair may be eligible for reimbursement if a product failure was experienced within the time
and mileage limits of the applicable warranty coverage. Reimbursement is obtained via normal claim
handling process.
