SAFETY RECALL
2. Disconnect the park brake switch
electrical connector.

3. Remove the 2 bolts securing the
park brake switch to the park
brake lever assembly. Retain the
bolts for reassembly.

4. Disconnect the electrical harness
clip from the park brake switch
and remove the switch from the
vehicle.

5. Remove the button from the
parking brake switch and retain
for reassembly. Discard the old
parking brake switch.

6. With the parking brake lever in the
released position, remove the clip
from the clevis pin, and then
remove the clevis pin that retains
the parking brake cable to the
parking brake lever. Dispose of the
washer, clip and pin.

7. Remove the 4 bolts securing the
parking brake lever to the cab.
Remove the lever from the
vehicle. Remove the plastic button
from the lever. Retain the bolts
and plastic button for reassembly.
Discard the old lever.

8. If it was previously determined
that the No. 1 parking brake
cable needed to be replaced,
remove the two nuts retaining
the cable to the cab. Retain
these nuts for re-assembly.
If cable replacement is not necessary,
skip to step 16.

9. Rotate the turnbuckle counter
clockwise to disconnect the No. 1
and No. 2 cables.

10. Working from inside the left
frame rail behind the cab,
remove the nuts retaining the
parking brake cable clamps.
Remove the clamps. Retain for
reassembly.

11. Depress the locking tangs on
the end of the cable and slide
the cable out of the mounting
bracket. Discard the old
parking brake cable.

12. Insert the new cable into the
mounting bracket. Ensure that
all locking tangs on the end of
the cable are properly
engaged.

13. Reinstall the cable clamps and
nuts and tighten to the
specified torque.
Specified Torque: 22Nm(16 lb-ft)

14. Connect both the No. 1 cable and
the No. 2 cable. Ensure that the
turnbuckle is threaded in at least
15mm. Do not tighten the jam nut
at this time.

15. Insert the cable into the floor
of the cab and reinstall the
previously removed nuts.
Tighten to the specified
torque.
Specified Torque: 51Nm(38 lb-ft)

16. Install the new parking brake lever
(46210-E0114) using the 4 bolts
removed previously.
Specified Torque: 51Nm(38 lb-ft)

17. Set the lever to the applied
position to set the lever
adjustment before the cable is
connected.

18. Using the adjustment knob on
the lever, set the pin height to
the specified value. Refer to the
photograph to the right for
measurement location.

Standard Pin Height: 56±2mm

19. Release the parking brake lever.
Remove the retaining clip and pin
from the parking brake lever and
connect the cable. Ensure both
rollers are engaged by the pin.
Reinsert the retaining clip.
Proceed to Parking Brake Cable
Adjustment.

Parking Brake Cable Adjustment
1. Using the turnbuckle on the cable,
adjust so that the lever pull force
is set to the specified value. If a
new cable has been installed as
part of this repair, adjust pull force
to the break-in value. Cycle the
parking brake lever 30 times, then
set to the standard value. If the
original parking brake cable is
used, set to the standard value.
Break in: 363N ±24.5N
Standard Value: 257N ±24.5N
NOTICE: For minor adjustments, the lever
knob can be used as long as pin height is
within 56mm ±2mm

2. After the pull force adjustment
is made, tighten the turnbuckle
jam nut to the specified value
and confirm that the exposed
threads on the No.2 parking
brake cable is less than 69mm.
The photo to the right shows
19mm of exposed threads
Proceed to Parking Brake Switch
Installation.
Specified Torque: 27Nm(20 lb-ft)

Parking Brake Switch Installation
1. Install the previously removed
button onto the new parking
brake switch (84080-E0011).

2. Connect the parking brake
electrical harness clip to the
parking brake switch.

3. Install the new parking brake
switch to the parking brake lever
assembly. Install the 2 previously
removed mounting bolts and
tighten the bolts to the specified
torque.
Specified Torque: 3.3 lb-ft (4.5 Nm)

4. Connect the parking brake switch
electrical connector.

5. For 2011-2013MY vehicles,
remove the lower right cover. For
2014-2015MY vehicles, skip to
step 9.

6. Check to determine if the parking
brake switch shorting terminal has
already been installed. If a relay is
present in this location, remove
the relay and discard.

shorting terminal
(82675-E0210) in
place of the park
brake switch relay.

8. Install the lower right cover.

9. Turn the starter switch to the
“ON” position to validate proper
parking brake warning lamp
operation.

10. Apply and release
the parking brake
several times.
Validate that the
parking brake
warning lamp is off
in the released
position. If the
warning lamp fails
to turn off in the
released position,
ensure the lever is
not binding and
that the switch and
shorting terminal
are properly
installed.

Parking Brake Console Installation

1. Place the console cover
on a work bench with
the lever opening
facing towards you. In
the left side of the
opening, trim the
alignment rib using
side cutters or a utility
knife. This will allow
the cover to fit over
the new parking brake
lever. Refer to the
photographs for
reference.

2. Install the previously removed
button into the new parking brake
lever.

3. Install the parking brake lever
cover and 2 screws securing the
cover. Tighten the 2 screws to the
specified torque.
Specified Torque: 1.5 lb-ft (2.0 Nm)

4. Install the

lever handle
with the
screw and
nut. Tighten
the screw to
the specified
torque.
Specified Torque:
1.1lb-ft (1.5Nm)

6. Proceed to the “Final Inspection”
procedure

FINAL INSPECTION:
To complete this campaign procedure, review the campaign and confirm the following:
 The parking brake lever pull force is within specification.
 The parking brake cable turnbuckle locknut is torqued to specification.
 All components that were removed and/or replaced have been properly installed
and fasteners torqued to their specification.
 The parking brake lamp works correctly with the parking brake lever in the
applied and unapplied positions.
